Thousands of donors raced to the aid of Marine Daniel Penny Saturday as a fund for his legal defense surpassed $1 million – a tsunami of support so massive it swamped the hosting website and disabled it for more than an hour.

“There was a big surge in traffic and our servers were temporarily overwhelmed,” Jacob Wells, co-founder of the giving platform GiveSendGo, told The Post.

Penny, 24, who placed Jordan Neely in a fatal chokehold on a Manhattan subway train on May 1, was arraigned Friday on a second-degree manslaughter charge and released on $100,000 bail.

But more than 23,000 donors — who mostly remained anonymous — have flocked to the GiveSendGo campaign

Arkansas Prosecutor Under Fire: Protecting Pedophile Uncle

Prosecutor in rural Arkansas: uncle is among the state's most dangerous pedophiles, accused of 'actively working to protect' him.

Jana Bradford, 54-year-old married mother of two, currently prosecuting attorney for Arkansas' 9th Judicial District West.

Her uncle, Barry Walker, 59, was arrested June 2022 after 100s of homemade videos of him raping girls aged from 2 - 14 were found at his Glenwood, Arkansas home.

Walker, ex- Air Force flight surgeon, pleaded guilty to abusing at least 31 girls from 1997 onwards, given multiple life sentences, Oct 2022.

His girlfriend, brother, & another niece have been criminally charged with covering up for him, to varying degrees. All live in the small town of 2,200 people that Bradford represents.

Spotlight is on Bradford, who for 20 yrs has sought to assist her uncle with legal issues following his first conviction for sexually abusing a child, in 2000 and tried to clear his name.

Alaska House passed a bill that would allow gold and silver to be used as legal tender

House Bill 3, introduced by Big Lake Republican Rep. Kevin McCabe, would allow business owners to decide if they want to accept the precious metals as currency. The coin or bar would need to be refined and its value would need to be authenticated, meaning gold dust or nuggets could not be used.

More than 10 states have passed similar bills, including Arkansas in April.

The bill specifically exempts local governments from collecting sales tax when U.S. dollars are exchanged for gold and silver. Sales taxes on purchases made with the bullion would still apply.

The use of gold and silver as currency would also still attract federal capital gains tax. If their value increased between the time when they were bought and sold, the user could be guilty of tax evasion if they did not report that income.
