Joseph O’Connor, U.K. behind a 2020 Twitter hack, extradited to the US, where he has pled guilty to multiple cybercrime offenses, U.S. Attorney’s Office SDNY announced Tues.
“O’Connor used his sophisticated technological abilities for malicious purposes — a complex SIM swap attack to steal large amounts of cryptocurrency, hacking Twitter, conducting computer intrusions to take over social media accounts, even cyberstalking 2 victims, incl. a minor ,” the SDNY said.

During the 2020 Twitter hack, multiple high-profile Twitter accounts were taken over – incl. CoinDesk’s – used to promote bitcoin giveaway scam. Despite multi-factor authentication being enabled on some accounts, attackers managed to hide scam warning responses, incl. from Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao, amassed approx. 11.3 BTC ($103,960) from fraudulent activity.
Graham Ivan Clark, Fl. participated in attack, arrested in Mar '21, tried as a young offender, 17 at the time.

Republican Rep. George Santos is in custody after he was indicted on 13 federal charges, as the feds spelled charges of fraud and graft.

The Long Island liar who has fabricated his resume is in court in New York and is preparing to face a judge.

The Eastern District of New York unsealed the indictment on Wednesday morning, on a day Santos surrendered to federal authorities.

The indictment includes seven counts of wire fraud, three counts of money laundering, one count of theft of public funds and two counts of making false statements to the House of Representatives.

'This indictment seeks to hold Santos accountable for various alleged fraudulent schemes and brazen misrepresentations,' stated United States Attorney Breon Peace.
