CONTAINER MANENOS
After returning practical scripts to the container on Friday afternoon, the Centre Manager felt relieved from the long week of waking up in the wee hours of the morning. He joined his colleagues at a local joint to do what they call ‘kupigia mwili pole’. The revelry continued till the early hours of Saturday morning.

He must have had much to much because around 6:30am this Saturday morning mama Watoto was shocked to see him jump out of bed, hurriedly putting on his clothes as he slurred ‘mimi kwisha, haki mimi kwisha’ and left the house speedly, almost surpassing Eliud Kipchoge’s ‘no man is limited record’.

Neighbours who saw mwalimu’s vehicle hit the road thought someone was being rushed to hospital or mwalimu was practicing to take the pole position during this weekend’s formula one race.

The AP policemen guarding the exams container were brought to high alert by the approaching car which had its full lights on. They almost opened fire but realized it’s a familiar mwalimu driving it.

The driver’s door flew open and mwalimu took a dash towards the container.
‘wameenda na mitihani wameniacha?’ Mwalimu asked, his voice coarse and shaky, noting that he was all alone with the APs at the closed container.
‘Nani hao mwalimu?’ the AP queried.
‘Principals wengine! Mwalimu supposed.

The APs were amused, and could not control their laughter. On recovering from the prolonged laughter, one of them informed ‘Mwalimu leo ni Saturday, hakuna mitihani. Enda nyumbani urelax.'

- Over fourteen students were found smoking bhang in the school dormitory
- They were confronted by police officer manning the examination centre
- They started throwing stones before they disappeared into nearby maize plantation
- When they returned to school on Monday, November 11, they were suspended
Twenty eight Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) candidates in Kisii county have been suspended from school after they were found smoking bhang and stoning a police officer.
The students of Kenyoro Mixed Boarding Secondary School in Marani will now have to operate from their homes for the rest of the exam session.

In a report by K24, Kisii county commissioner Leornard Mgute said half of the students were found smoking bhang in their dormitory on Friday, November 8, and when confronted by the police officer they started throwing stones at him.
Mgute said the smell of bhang was so rampant that the security officer had to inform the school administrators who initiated search for the culprits.
Upon search the students were found seating on beds in the dormitory as they were smoking bhang.

The students then went on rampage and started throwing stones at the officer before they escaped into a nearby maize plantation.
However, when they returned to school on Monday, November 11, they were suspended but only allowed to sit for exams from home.
"The school’s board assembled and decided to suspend the candidates but allowed them to sit the examination under surveillance,” Mgute said.
Four more security officers have been deployed to the school to beef up security while a detective has been dispatched to investigate the source of the bhang the students were smoking.
*IN DEPTH ANALYSIS OF TEACHERS' PLACEMENT TO JOB GROUPS AFTER 30TH NOVEMBER,2019.*

The much awaited publication is finally out and each teacher should go through it to understand where they will belong depending on one's status in terms of policy based on Schemes of Service(SOS) or Career Progression Guidelines (CPG). *This is how the placement is going to be done:*
*GROUP OF CPG*
1:All Secondary school teachers will remain in the grades they are in since Kuppet did not contest the instruments implementing CBA.

2:All unionless primary school headteachers, deputy headteachers, senior teachers 1, 2As , 2Bs, Primary teachers will retain their current grades and salaries with administrators enjoying the enhanced CBA phase 3.

*NOTE: Groups 1 and 2 will have upward mobility depending on the type of promotion that will come before the end of the year. The most open for all, is where all the B5 teachers will move automatically to C1 early next year.*

*GROUP OF SOS*
3: All headteachers who were in Job group G(B4) and moved to N(C5), will be taken back to B5(H) being the grade they should be under SOS. This will be the hardest hit group.
4:All headteachers who were in H,J,K and L being B5,C1,C2 and C3 respectively, will move back to their original grades and earn salaries downwards from where they are currently but slightly above what they used to earn.
5:The Headteachers and Deputy headteachers who were in job group M and N but are currently in Job grade D1 will be moved back to the original grade on a lower salary scale.
6:Deputy headteachers currently in job group M will all be taken back to where they were before the CBA.

*NOTE: Once a teacher moves down the salary grades, the administrative position is forfeited as well. Salaries are attached to positions.*

7:Senior teachers fall into 3 categories. i.e Senior teacher 1,Snr teacher 2A and 2B.
Senior teacher 1s are all the teacher who were in job group L but were not holding any administrative position at all.
Senior teacher 2A are all diploma teachers who were in job group H and J in 2017 but were not holding any administrative position in school.
Senior teacher 2B are all the P1 teachers who were holding the positions of senior teachers in their school.
Here senior teacher 2B will have to move back to B5 where their counterparts are mark timing.

*NOTE: In this category, the Snr.1 and 2A will not be disturbed as they did not move but just got CBA increase.*

8:P1 who are job grade B5 will not be moved back to B4 which is the original job group G but will remain in the same grade until 2023 as their counterparts under CPG will be moving to C1.

This is because instead of demoting the back to B4 then recover salaries from them,it is understood that being ready for promotion in 2020,they will not be moved in order to recover the overpayment indirectly.

*NB: Recovery of overpayment shall be done immediately and the excess is fully paid for. In recovering government liabilities from workers, the 3RD rule does not apply.*

*Shock for teachers as AON Minet places them in lower job groups, reducing their benefits*

Teachers have been caught by a huge surprise after realizing that AON Minet which provides medical cover to them decided to place them in lower job groups. Teachers who logged onto their accounts discovered that they had been placed in lower grades meaning they will enjoy limited services and cover. This is because the cost of the medical cover provided to teachers is dependent on the respective teachers’ job groups.
Also read;

A spot check on the TSC contracted AON portal, the teachers have been placed in inferior grades and thus will not enjoy all benefits attached to the current job grade. Teachers complained that their details on the AON portal showed a grade lesser than where placed currently by their employer, the Teachers Service Commision (TSC).
“Login into Aon minet self care portal using the link above ( https://collaborationkenya.minet.com/tsc ) and check the job group you are listed into and gender. This is because a majority of us are listed in job group K and yet you are in Job group L or above, thus depriving you a significant amount of cash e.g the inpatient cover for K is 450,000 while in L its 600,000,’ complained one teacher.
It is notably not possible for one to change the Job group by self because the tab has been disabled by AON Minet. Consequently, one should visit the AON offices or contact them via phone for assistance before December 6. To view a list of all AON Contacts and Physical offices please click on; All contacts, physical location and names for the AON Minet county managers and how to easily register
Minet says TSC to blame
But on contacting AON Customer care, the company said it was not the one to be blamed, rather the erroneous data from TSC. “This data on the job group comes from TSC headquarters. You can request the employer to make amends so that we are able to amend on Minet’s side,” read a response from the provider.
Minet could later retract on its earlier statement and said the hitch was caused by a technical hitch. “This (erroneous capture of job grades) is being resolved and should be ok before the end of the day. Please check later today. It (the error) was caused by migration of data into a new system”, read the Minet response.
TSC recently renewed AON Minet contract for another period on three (3) years.
Remember to update details of your dependants.
The medical scheme allows for change of dependents at the beginning of a policy year. If you wish to do this you have until 6th December, 2019. These changes will officially take effect in the month of December. Kindly log in to https://collaborationkenya.minet.com/tsc, click on change of dependent, fill in the changes as required and attach supporting documentation as listed on the form.
HOW TO CHECK IF DEPENDANTS DETAILS ARE WELL CAPTURED
Once dependants have been registered, it is important to check on the AON portal to see if the captured details are correct. But, the dependants must first be captured on AON portal. This can be done by using the Minet Self Service Portal; https://collaborationkenya.minet.com/tsc The same portal can be used to upload dependants’ supportive documents.
LIST OF DOCUMENTS TO UPLOAD AND HOW TO DO IT
After successfully registering, one has to provide proof via uploaded documentation. The documentation includes that for all dependants. The following documents are required, where necessary:
1). Adoption document; for any adopted child.
2). Birth Certificate/ Birth Notification for all registered children.
3). Change of Dependant document.
4). Change of details document; whenever an amendment is made to the originally declared information.
5). Marriage document/ Marriage certificate.
6). National Identity Card.
7). Proof of Disability.
8). Proof of school (A school ID is required).

THE KNUT RIFT VALLEY REGIONAL MEETING MAKES A RESOLUTION TO INSULATE THE UNION FROM EXTERNAL ATTACKS BY REMAINING TOGETHER UNDER THE STEERING COMMITTEE

Solidarity with the National office was the running theme at KNUT the Riftvalley region meeting. The regional meeting yesterday in Eldoret yesterday Saturday 16th November was about peace. It marked the end of confusion and division in the union. It brought together 150 top KNUT officials from the headoffice and the vast region.

WHAT IS A REGIONAL COUNCIL MEETING?
A regional council brings together the top 4 officials from every branch in the region. KNUT has 8 regions fashioned from the former 8 provinces. Rift valley is the largest region within the KNUT family having 26 branches with 8 NEC Members and with 687 delegates. This is more than half of the KNUT total delegates. Simply a resolution by RiftValley region is binding.

*TSC HAS BOUGHT HALF A PAGE IN THE SUNDAY NATION TO SEEK SYMPATHY FROM KENYANS WHO SEE IT AS ROGUE AND OUT TO KILL THE UNION KNUT*

The advert from TSC is a clear manifestation of self defence. Why use 10 million to buy space in the papers ili kujitetea.... Unless of course you know you have done something wrong?

It is proves that recent happenings at the commission have put it under public scrutiny hence under siege. And someone high up has questioned their activities.

Read through the long advert TSC appreciates the role of KNUT, claiming it will always work with KNUT even if it had one member. That recognition agreement cannot just be wished away. TSC says it is an intricate matter that involves the labour commission and subject to judicial review. My question is... When did TSC realise this?

*HATE BLOGGERS DISOWNED*
The ADVERT also clearly states that contrary to what haters tell us daily, TSC will work with unions. TSC cannot kill KNUT and TSC will accept court orders and interpretations
*TSC IS NOT IN ANY POLITICAL CONTEST WITH KNUT*

The recent advert from TSC shouldn't be misinterpreted by the hate blogger Peter Kodhek Amunga. Its not in anyway seeking public sympathy. The current tribulations facing KNUT are internal that dates back to 2011, and TSC can't seek for help in the public opinion courts. The today's advert TSC has only appreciated the role of Trade Unions and not making specific reference to Knut and Amunga must stop misleading the public. Teachers are aware of other registered unions receiving dues but they can't engage the employer TSC on the Labour Relations for instance CBA. So the issue of Recognition Agreement is a matter that shall be delt with at the right time.

*REVOLUTIONARIES ARE NOT HATE BLOGGERS*
The advert has not talked of any group as hate bloggers and Amunga must stop castigating any group. TSC will work with unions and only after meeting constitutional requirements as dictated by Labour Relations laws. Amunga ur not a lawyer nor a teacher and can't purport to address teachers issues by misinterpreting the today's TSC communication that appeared on today's Daily Nation.

*RESOLUTION*
The recently published advert from TSC shows that its not responsible for woes in Knut. Its only relaying the information that unions needs to put their houses in order to be engaged by relevant organs. Teachers are fully behind their Employer and Amunga's interpretation is nonsense. Truth is dawning on Sossion and his groupings that KNUT is a union without members and will not negotiate anything with employer TSC on teachers issues.

*TSC RECOGNITION AGREEMENT WITH KNUT TO STAY. SAYS LABOUR COURT*

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) plan to severe ties with Kenya National Union of Teachers (Knut) has been halted via a court order.

Judge Maureen Onyango suspended move by TSC to terminate its 51-year-old agreement with Knut until case is heard and determined.

Knut had sued TSC for issuing the notice on November 4. The daily Nation has reported as follows.

That Justice Onyango also fixed the hearing of the case on December 11 with Knut expected to file responses to preliminary objections within 7 days from the date of service by the Dr Macharia and TSC.

*“That in the meantime, the notice of termination ins suspended pending hearing and determination of the preliminary objection,” ordered Justice Onyango.*

TSC had notified Knut that it did not have the simple majority of unionisable employees under the employment of the Commission.

HELB SHAME

When military are being trained, They are given free transport, Free Meals, Free Accomodation and alot of money after the completion of their training , furthermore they are given letters for employment and they are absorbed directly to start earning. The same happens to NYS, KWS ,Police Service and even G4S, no wonder they never respect comrades. NYS consume between 500-1000 cows during training while every military man consumes atleast 1 cow during the training. Nobody follows them to pay back this money, Why then are students being forced and even threatened to pay back HELB loan. Does our goverment disrespect academic knowledge!?

*TSC INTERN INTERVIEWS FAIL TO ATTRACT INTERVIEWEES*

TSC intern interviews for bgm schools has been on going in various selected centers.
The interviews have been characterised with low turn out .
Some schools have even missed those to be interviewed .
Other cases graduands of last year and this year are the ones that turned up.

Its shocking in country with the highest unemployment rate to experience low interview turnout.
Something is wrong somewhere.

I was in attendance in one center as a panelist.
After the TSC subcounty addressed the applicants a dozen of them just left.

THE *DIRECTOR'S*
Highlighted the following.
1) Interns are to earn 15k for sec schools. And 10 k for pri schools.
2) They are to work for one year and incase of replacement vacancies they shall not participate.
3) Any other TSC vacancies in the course of the year contracted interns shall not be elligible.
4) The money they shall earn shall be subject to tax. NHIF . NSSF
Insurance cover and HELB loan deductions.
Compared to Boms where some get above 20 k NET untaxable many of them saw this as a raw deal.

On permanent employment " the director told them that it will not be automatic but in future TSC interns will be awarded more marks.

It Was for these reasons many of them left despite many having applied in dozens. Each school had a TSC short list of over 20 applications.

Many who had benchmarked with PSC where interns get 25 k
the TSC was just unattractive.

Pls tell them to turn up for interview.
Its sad to sit in a panel and end up interviewing no body.

For our school we were lucky out of 25 apolicants for Eng Lit only two turned up .

We took one and the other one Was taken by our sister school.

*i think we should resist this internship thing*
