๐ธ๐พ | This will be our only post regarding the situation in Syria:
Many channels reporting on the recent "rebel" offensive in Syria, in which members of HTS (Hayat Tahrir al-Sham) have captured Aleppo, are portraying HTS militants as liberators and freedom fighters who are standing up to the evil Assad regime.
The fact that these channels grossly overlook is that HTS are not much better than the Assad regime itself. A large majority of militants from the group are of foreign origin (not Syrian), many members part of or coming from other groups such as ISIS, al-Qaeda and al-Nusra front - internationally recognized terrorist groups notorious for their brutality and oppression - including their leader Mohammad al-Julani who has been a member of all aforementioned groups.
Aleppo's recent fall to HTS control poses a grim threat to its population, as Aleppo has a diversity of ethnic groups which includes Armenians, Christians, Jews and Kurds, among others, all very likely to suffer under the oppressive rule of these extremist militants.
They are not liberators.
Our stance is this: we do not support either side in this conflict. The Assad regime is brutal and oppressive, responsible for some of the most severe atrocities in the 21st century - which have been massively overlooked. Hayat Tahrir al-Shams is no different. They too, being made up from ISIS, al-Qaeda and al-Nusra front militants, are responsible for terrible atrocities and are known for their brutality and oppression.
Please look into the things you hear on the news or on telegram channels before taking a stance. Many channels paint very different pictures from reality, portraying one side or the other as a lesser evil or the 'good guys'. The truth is, both sides are the same. There is no lesser evil.

๐ธ๐พโ๏ธ๐ธ๐พ | To give a little update on the situation in Syria as it currently is:
HTS terrorists among other anti-regime groups have advanced dozens of kilometers in the last few days and have captured the city of Hama, north of Homs. The anti-regime forces are currently entering the outskirts of Homs and are expected to conquer it in the coming days - another major blow to the crumbling Assad regime after the loss of Aleppo.
Since the start of the offensive in Aleppo, the anti-regime forces have managed to reach half-way to Damascus, Syria's capital and the regime's main stronghold.
Due to its proximity to Israel's northern borders, and due to fears of regime weapons (such as ballistic missiles and chemical weapons) falling into the hands of anti-regime terrorist groups, there are growing speculations that Israel may take preventative action in Syria.

๐ฎ๐ฑโก๏ธ๐ธ๐พ | The Israeli military says it carried out a drill simulating a fast deployment of forces due to a sudden event, in light of the developments in Syria.
The drill, led by the IDF Operations Directorate, was wrapped up on Friday. It was carried out in the northern Jordan Valley and southern Golan Heights, close to the border with Syria.
The Operations Directorate drilled a rapid deployment of ground and air forces, and assessed their "response time and their reaction to an emerging incident in real-time," according to the military.
The IDF says "The exercise aimed to refine coordination between ground forces and air forces, enhancing rapid response capabilities to various scenarios during an emerging incident."
Troops from training programs and various IAF squadrons participated in the drill, some of whom have remained in the Golan Heights area "to reinforce defensive missions along the Syrian border," the military adds.
