🇮🇱⚡️🇮🇷 | According to new reports by Axios, Israel's strikes on Iran in late October targeted and destroyed an active nuclear weapons research facility.

Satellite images from the Parchin military site, located 30 kilometers southeast of Tehran, show the destruction of multiple buildings including one called Taleghan-2 which, according to reports, was actively being used as a testing and development site for nuclear weapons.

The reason this strike did not trigger major escalation, according to the report, is that Taleghan-2 was not part of Iran's declared nuclear program and thus Iran would not be able to acknowledge the significance of the Israeli attack without admitting that it violated the nuclear non-proliferation treaty.

While Iran doesn't acknowledge the strike on Taleghan-2 or the purpose of the building, thousands of nuclear weapons-related documents seized by Israel in Tehran detail (among other things) the the purpose of the site, as well as blueprints, pictures and schematics.
