3. Completed grade 11 by the end of this academic year and will be attending grade 12 from September 2023
4. Commitment to attend the whole ESP session to be offered

Rediet Abebe is a computer scientist and assistant professor at the University of California, Berkeley. She is also a Junior Fellow at the Harvard Society of Fellows.

Her research interests lie at the intersection of artificial intelligence and social impact. She has conducted research on algorithmic fairness, with a focus on developing new techniques for mitigating bias and discrimination in machine learning models.

She is also interested in developing new methods for leveraging machine learning to address problems in healthcare, education, and economic development.

In addition to her research, Rediet is a co-founder of Black in AI, a community of black researchers in artificial intelligence, and co-founder of the Mechanism Design for Social Good initiative, which aims to use ideas from computer science and economics to address social problems.
