Hippocrates' theory of personality is based on the idea of four bodily fluids, or "humors" (blood, black bile, yellow bile, and phlegm), that determine a person's temperament. The theory posits that personality is a result of the balance of these humors, with an excess of one leading to a specific personality type: sanguine (cheerful, optimistic), melancholic (sad, depressed), choleric (irritable, ambitious), or phlegmatic (calm, passive).
Kretschmer's personality theory is a discredited psychological model by German psychiatrist Ernst Kretschmer that attempts to link an individual's physical body type to their personality traits and mental health predispositions. He classified people into four main types: pyknic (short, rotund), asthenic (tall, thin), athletic (muscular), and dysplastic (a mix of types). He associated pyknic types with manic-depressive illness, and asthenic and athletic types with schizophrenia, though this theory is no longer considered influential.
Sheldon" in this context refers to William Herbert Sheldon, a psychologist who developed the "constitutional approach" which links a person's body type (somatotype) to their personality traits, suggesting that certain physical characteristics are associated with specific personality types; essentially, the idea that your body build can influence your behavior.
