Create Spanish Interior Design For Your Home

Floor-to-ceiling windows, wooden accents, and lots of ceramics. These are the main features of a typical Spanish interior design that you can recreate for your home if you know the basics. Let's cover them.

Basics Of Spanish Style

In short, a Spanish interior abounds with various rich colours, has multiple small details, and often mixes different styles, materials, and shapes. You can follow these principles or add your own to the ones we have listed to modify this catchy style for your taste.

Spanish style is unique and is difficult to be confused with any other style. It has its authentic mood and ambience, and we will cover the main features below and advise you on the next steps.

Layouts

Traditionally, Spanish homes are spacious old buildings with beamed ceilings and large windows. In turn, the rooms are often pretty small, so Spaniards take advantage of the floor-to-ceiling windows and terrace or roof. They do it because natural light visually expands the space and creates a more pleasant ambience.

In addition, Spanish interior design is full of glass decors, such as inserts in walls, partitions and doors.

Textures

For a typical Spanish home, it is nice to have a lot of various textures in interior design, such as rough plaster, painting, or stone. Moreover, wood and metal are also welcomed, so anyone can find something to their taste.

White And Red Color Mix

Most of the time, the tone of the walls in the Spanish interior is calm and relaxing, such as white or sandy colours.

In turn, accent colours are vivid and contrasting. For instance, different parts of the walls, furniture, and textile.

Ceramics

If to choose just one feature of Spanish interiors, it would be the ceramics. You can use it to create anything from ornamental tiles to stone slabs. Moreover, tiles are perfect for walls and floors and can liven up your interior.

Furniture

A typical Spanish house is full of dark wood furniture with massive shapes. However, modern designs lean toward lightness and elegant furniture of white wood.

Furniture is arguably the most essential part of interior design as it becomes part of the space (like built-in storage). A good tip is to use antique furniture (restored or authentic) at a flea market.

Spanish Decor

Spain is a tropical country with a lot of sunshine, so homeowners often use decor to block excessive sunlight. You can find fabulous wooden shutters in older homes and Roman blinds in more modern houses. Classic curtains are rare.

The decor also has a lot of greenery, including plants in catchy ceramic pots. Dishes, vases, and textiles vary a lot as well, with pillows and blankets being extremely trendy over curtains and tablecloths.

Spanish interiors combine old and new, tradition and novelties, rich colours and simplicity. All of them exist in harmony and make cosy and lovely homes.

When I faced challenges designing a space, I came across user-friendly apps and soft like planner5d. It offers many handy tools like Room Scan and Smart Wizard to ease the interior design process. Good luck with your next interior design!
