🇷🇺🇺🇦 STATEMENT ON UKRAINE:

Regardless of where you stand on today's events, let us all take the advice of our hierarchs and pray for peace in Ukraine and a swift end to the ongoing war gripping the country.

Pray for those who have lost their lives — on both sides — and let us hope that further casualties can be avoided as much as is realistically possible in a conflict of this magnitude.

It's never a pleasant sight to see brother countries at each others' throats, and I hope none of this spills over to the parish level, where, of course, many Russians and Ukrainians share the same places of worship.

For the sake of preserving brotherly unity in the faith, it would be best advised to refrain from discussing the events of today at church, unless it is to comfort those directly affected by the humanitarian crisis currently unfolding. They deserve our utmost love and support right now.

This is a pivotal moment in history, possibly the end of the terrorist OCU organisation as well. Let us pray for peace! 🙏🏻

A relevant Orthodox prayer for times of conflict and suffering 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Assume that every new person at your church, particularly if it's Russian Orthodox, is a federal agent until they prove otherwise.

They're going to keep tabs on Orthodox churches in the West now, you better realise that. Don't say anything outlandish or anything that in the future may be used to incriminate you. Just a friendly heads up 👍🏻

"The global elites have been conspiring with one another to change and control the world. They want to re-establish this world, but in a faustian, cunning and utopian way. A world that promises liberation, but brings captivity; which promises eternal health, but which overwhelms hospitals; which promises happiness only if you are deprived of all things natural. In fact, this "reset" is a lot like what we Romanians experienced just a few decades ago. A world of control, surveillance, rationing and scarcity. Of planned deprivations, a permanent state of terror, of domination by division. We used to call it communism. And now it has returned, this time in a new form and with the help of new technologies."

A lot of people are sharing the image above about St. Paisios' prophecy on Turkey without much research or actual understanding of the geopolitical situation in Ukraine, or the Black Sea. Some key things to note:

1) Turkey has closed off the Bosphorus strait to ALL warships, not just Russian vessels.

2) All the warships that Russia needs for the war efforts are already in the Black Sea. In fact, if anything this only helps Russia as it cuts off Ukrainian allies from sending warships through the strait.

3) President Erdoğan condemned the Russian invasion, but he also announced only yesterday that he wouldn't abandon ties with Russia as it wasn't in the "national interest" to do so.

Let's not get hyped up in prophecies folks, it's good to read and be aware of them, but from my own experience, fear mongering about current events only usually serves the devil in distracting us from more important aspects of the Christian life, such as prayer and repentance.

Whatever one thinks about the Russo-Ukrainian War, it is complete hypocrisy that the West is unleashing a nuclear bomb of sanctions against Russia for doing what the US and its allies do every single day, against multiple different countries, on the other side of the world. At least Russia can point to national security as its justification, whether rightly or wrongly.

But how can the West defend their ethnic cleansing/genocides in Syria, Iraq, Yemen, Libya, Afghanistan, Serbia etc? And why isn't Turkey being sanctioned into oblivion for its ongoing occupation of Cyprus, if we are to be consistent?
The previous post isn't meant to disregard the very real humanitarian crisis in Ukraine, but rather to point out the lack of consistency in the average Western person's mind as to what constitutes a morally abominable foreign policy decision.

We should be angered by the loss of life whatever the country, and with no exceptions. Our prayers should extend to all peoples, whether they be in Ukraine, Syria, Yemen or elsewhere. It is our desire that peace be felt in all regions of the world, and that all nations be held to the same standards. May the Lord have mercy on us all!
🇺🇦 Metropolitan Luke of Zaporozhye (UOC): Don't follow the devil's lead, stop sowing confusion!

"Christ is in our midst, my dear readers!

War brings out the true face of people.

Dear to my heart Zaporozhye flock! Today we are going through a difficult and mournful time for all. More than ever, we must now be one with God and with each other. The enemy of the human race seeks to do everything possible to divide and tear us apart. He did this with the help of the so-called “tomos” (of the 'OCU' entity), then during the epidemic he sowed enmity between supporters and opponents of vaccination.

Now he separates us by the hands of those shepherds who bring confusion into the united flock of Christ. The Church has different traditions. In some Local Churches, the clergy commemorate only the ruling bishop, elsewhere they commemorate the primates of the Churches along with him. This is not the point, but the fact that right now, when we must all pray together for the speedy establishment of peace in our long-suffering Motherland, some clergymen, succumbing to emotions and proud passion, are sowing division. Is today really the best time to have discussions on social media about this or that? Is this our first concern in such a terrible time?

Any war is the work of the devil. For me, not only as a bishop, but also just an Orthodox person, the most terrible thing is that people who come out of the same baptismal font, whose mothers pray in the same Church, on whose chests the same crosses hang, kill each other. Both of them read the same prayers before the battle and turn to the same God. The heart of the Mother of God breaks when she sees all this madness of Her children!

I call and ask the clergy of the Zaporozhye diocese - stop sowing confusion among our flock, do not follow the devil's lead. Remember, before God you will have to answer for every word! Today, more than ever, you must live up to your calling - to show the image of Christ in this world: pity everyone, have mercy on everyone, show sacrificial love, and not get carried away with political games."

"Believing in the justice of the Palestinian people's cause and their legitimate right to defend their land and their sanctities, in light of the fierce and barbaric onslaught perpetrated by the Zionist occupation, we called on our parish priests to ring the church bells in solidarity with our Palestinian brethren, and to pray for the Lord God to protect and preserve our people in Gaza City and all other Palestinian cities from this evil and to have mercy on all our martyrs."
