The funeral of His Eminence Metropolitan Kosmas of Aetolia of the Orthodox Church of Greece was served yesterday at the Church of St. Spyridon in Messolonghi in the Aetolia-Acarnania regional unit.

🇬🇷 Metropolitan Kosmas of Aetolia is another hierarch who has declined the vaccine. He says that wearing a mask at liturgy and closing churches to "stop the spread" of the virus is a sign of weak faith.

“We must not lose our faith as Orthodox Christians today, when we see so much happening around us. Today we are told to enter church wearing a mask so as not to become infected. Who do we approach when we enter church? A weak man? We draw near to Almighty God.

Our forefathers knelt, and prayed fervently in church, and removed pestilence, perils, revolutions, wars, and enemies, and everything. They went to the holy churches, and we’re afraid today to go to our churches because, they say, ‘We are in danger!’"

🇬🇷 Metropolitan Kosmas is carried out of the Church of St. Spyridon for the procession. The faithful sprinkle his coffin with flowers as shouts of "axios" and "saint" are heard from the crowd.

His Eminence was truly a man of the people and a holy and faithful servant of God, loved and cherished by many. He will be missed dearly by us all. 🇬🇷☦
