The situation with Iran has led to problems with global supplies of sulfuric acid, causing a sharp rise in its price, according to the Wall Street Journal. Sulfuric acid is used for creating fertilizers, leaching copper and other metals.

"The war in the Persian Gulf and new Chinese export restrictions have led to a sharp rise in sulfuric acid prices and raised concerns about the availability of a chemical that the world relies on for food production, metals, paper, computer chips, and clean water," the newspaper said.

The Wall Street Journal adds, citing Sára Marlowe, a fertilizer pricing expert at Argus, that Chile and Indonesia are likely to be the most affected by China's restrictions on sulfuric acid supplies.

The territory of the "Alabuga" economic zone, where "Gerani" is produced, has expanded by approximately 340 hectares over the year. This was reported by "Radio Liberty," citing a comparison of satellite images from May 2025 and May 2026.

The publication writes that construction of new hangars is ongoing in the northern part of the zone, and new residential and production premises have appeared in the central part over the year. Also, in April 2026, active construction work began on a plot of more than 450 hectares south of "Alabuga". A new road to the complex is also being built there.

Additionally, air defense systems are being strengthened around "Alabuga." Journalists have discovered at least 19 towers on the territory of the complex to counter air attacks, and near the zone, OSINT analysts have noticed a tower for the "Pantsir" air defense system.

Contrary signals are coming from Germany regarding yesterday's statement by Putin that former German Chancellor Gerhard Schröder could act as a negotiator for Ukraine on behalf of Europe.

The publication Der Spiegel, citing sources in the German Cabinet, states that the German government opposed such a proposal, calling this option "untrustworthy".

At the same time, representatives of the Social Democratic Party of Germany (which Schröder once led), a member of the ruling coalition, told the publication that Putin's proposal could be considered.

In 2022, Schröder already attempted to mediate in ending the war and even visited Moscow to meet with Putin. However, his initiatives were not accepted in Germany and the EU.

Military Chronicle:

In Chad, following Mali, serious geopolitical shifts have begun, accompanied by a rise in terrorist activity. Although the situation has not yet reached the intensity of the Malian conflict, activity is gradually increasing. After the landmark visit of the country's president, Mahamat Déby, to Moscow and his meeting with Putin in January 2024, France's presence in the country, which had lasted more than 120 years, came to an end. In November 2024, N'Djamena unilaterally terminated the military cooperation agreement with Paris. By January 30, 2025, France had officially completed its troop withdrawal, handing over all three military bases, including the largest facility, "Sergeant Adji Kossei," in the capital, to the control of Chad's national army. By May 2026, there will be no official French military facilities left in the country. Against this backdrop, the resurgence of radical groups around Lake Chad and along the borders looks not only like an internal challenge but also like a possible tool for the French to take revenge, as is happening in Mali. Given Chad's close ties with the Central African Republic (CAR), where Russia has also firmly established itself, the region is turning into a unified staging ground for the confrontation between old colonial powers and new partners. The Chadian army is currently managing terrorist activity on its own, but it is not ruled out that the African Corps may have to intervene here as well. And considering that France is on the verge of being pushed out of Niger, there's more work to be done there as well.

I have to take issue with Senator Elissa Slotkin (Democrat)...she put out a video retailing the line that China is always stealing tech...my trip has shown it ain't so...She said, "The Chinese Communist Party has an economic playbook:

They often reverse-engineer a product, like cars, deeply subsidize it, flood markets to undercut all their competitors and drive them out of business. That playbook is why I am working to ban Chinese vehicles in the U.S. "

-putting aside the subsidies we do in the USA... I also have a rebuttal:

The Chinese 🇨🇳 NIO has a 3 minute batter swap and that was stolen from…

NIO innovated and has dramatically reduced the cost of ownership.

100 million battery swaps.

“Bye bye smog in Chinese cities” (it has dissipated substantially and all the major cities).

It’s cute, useful, lowering the cost and… not coming to the USA 🇺🇸anytime soon 😭

No… China doesn’t do everything based on stealing other’s ideas.

China sees itself as a pioneer.

Americans had that trait too! Let’s get it back again!

(I think I like the NIOs the best now)

Карго анекдоты категории Б 🌴:

Donald Trump's grandson asks Donald Trump:
— Grandpa Donald, what is the Tower of Babel?
— Great America built the best tower in the world, and everyone came, and the damn Latinos, and the shitty Italians, and the fucking Frenchies, and the Karakurts, and even the Kovalskys came, and those little Japs, I hate Japs.
— And why wasn't it finished?
— Because Iran attacked the data centers and stupid people without GREAT AMERICA stopped understanding each other.
— What's Iran?
— Iran are terrorists. Very bad people. I defeated them TWICE. But then the covert Democrats came and SLEEPY JOE GAVE EVERYTHING AWAY. That's why I declared a blockade of the Strait of Trump.
— Grandpa, but why are you blocking your own strait?
— Damn it, why can't we send kids like you to an island now?
— To which island, Grandpa Donald?
— Oh, doesn't matter. Let's go and make THE BEST DEAL. Thanks for your attention to this matter.

Potato prices in Europe on the market have soared by 700-800% in a short period of time - since April 21, the cost of futures contracts for potatoes has increased from about 2.11 euros to 18.50 euros per centner. This is due to problems with the supply of fertilizers due to the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz.

I still wonder when food will be excluded from speculations. Basic products must be a subject of trade only for producers and real sellers.

There is a saying: problem of hunger in the world is not because the poor have nothing to eat, it's because the rich cannot have enough.
Let them speculate on caviar, truffles and rest of the overpriced bs, leave basic products out of speculations.

👔 Kallas believes that she could have negotiated with Russia instead of Schröder. She noted that the EU should continue to increase pressure on Russia, "in order to weaken it and force it to make concessions":

If a politician doesn't make a fuss about himself, no one will make a fuss about him. So I'll say: yes, I could have. I think I can consider all of Russia's traps.

She speaks Russian, most likely, but that will not help her in negotiations at all.
