According to the leaks Al-Jahuri refers to, US President Donald Trump is demanding from the states of the Middle East either $ 5 trillion to continue the war, or $2.5 trillion as payment for ending it, presenting it as payment for "what has been achieved."

Salem Al-Jahuri commented on reports about Washington's financial demands to allies in the region. Al-Jahouri described the US policy as a "big racket," claiming that the Trump administration is forcing the Gulf monarchies to pay for "security" and regional stability.

When will we be presenting Israel with a bill?

It's particularly grating to me every time he announces victory in a conflict that is clearly still raging.

Amid all the talk about expensive gas, let's not forget that in 2021-2022 gas prices in Europe were 3-4 times higher than they are now. So there is potential, as the story around Iran shows no end in sight yet.

❗️In the event of the US carrying out its threats to strike Iranian energy facilities, Iran will completely close the Strait of Hormuz - IRGC.

I really applaud this move. Iran will get the US pressured by literally everyone involved to pressure the US, including China, India and Japan.

NATO Secretary General Rutte stated thathe fully understands Trump's decision not to share plans for an attack on Iran with US NATO alliesdue to the risk of information leaks.

"For security reasons, it was impossible to share this information with allies, as it could have neutralized the effect of the first strike due to the constant risk of leaks. Therefore, I fully understand why the US could not share this with allies," Rutte said on Fox News.

The war in Iran has already cost the USA $27 billion.

This I consider to be conservative, since it is primarily based on expenditure of ammunition and deployment costs. It probably doesn't include all of the damages to equipment and radars. It also does not include the greater economic effects.

Brief Frontline Report – March 22nd, 2026

Summary by Marat Khairullin and Mikhail Popov

Message from the Russian Ministry of Defense: "As a result of decisive actions, units of the 'North' Group have established control over the settlement of Potapovka in Sumy Oblast."

In the north of Sumy Oblast, combat operations continue in the border zone. On March 17, control was established over the large settlement of Sopych, and on March 22, control was established over the settlement of Potapovka (51°49′24″ N 34°24′38″ E, population 41 in 2001), located to the south.

The rural settlement of Potapovka is situated on the right bank of the Kleven River, along which the Russian state border runs, on a local elevation with a height of 207 meters above sea level, from which the swampy meadow lowland to the west is controlled.

The enemy has withdrawn beyond the lowland to the Bachevsk - Chervony Pakhar - Korenek line, leaving covering detachments in the Delnitsy tract.

The Russian Armed Forces have formed a border buffer zone with flanks enveloping the Ukrainian Armed Forces' defense sector of Tolstodubovo - Sukhodol - Kucherovka. This bridgehead has the potential to carry out flanking envelopments and a central wedge advance to expand the buffer zone across the entire territory of the district south of the M-02 highway. The district itself, with its well-developed road network, tracts, isolated forested areas, and a protrusion extending eastward, is a convenient space for the enemy to use mobile MLRS groups and unmanned systems to strike targets on the territory of the Russian Federation.

Read this report and many others on Marat Khairullin's Substack! That's where I post the high-definition maps, and frankly, the formatting on Substack makes the reports easier to follow. Any questions for Marat and Mikhail will be answered there.

A number of NATO member states are preparing measures to ensure navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, said NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.

It is noted that most of these countries are members of NATO. Japan, South Korea, Australia, New Zealand, the UAE, and Bahrain also participated in the plan.

"I know that the [US] President was dissatisfied, as he believes that Europe and other allies are moving too slowly. But the good news is that from Thursday, a group of 22 countries are joining forces to implement his vision of ensuring free [navigation] in the Strait of Hormuz as soon as possible," said Rutte.

He also reported that he is in contact with Donald Trump, despite his criticism of NATO.

❗️The foreign ministers of EU countries, after hours of negotiations in Brussels, rejected the US request to participate in ensuring the security of the Strait of Hormuz.

Among those who refused Trump military support are Italy, Germany, Greece, Norway, and Japan. China is ignoring Washington's request, and the Polish authorities reported that they would consider the issue if the US asked for it. At the same time, Britain and France stated that they are willing to participate in ensuring security in the strait only after de-escalation.

The US has estimated that Russia will receive an additional $2 billion in revenue due to the easing of Washington's sanctions against Russian energy carriers in light of the situation in the Middle East, stated the head of the US Treasury, Bessent.

Source: RIA Novosti

Russia was exporting something like $1 billion dollars per week before February 28th, and last week they exported closer to $2 billion worth of oil. I'm not sure how they arrived at this number, but it will likely be much higher. There is currently 120 million barrels of Russian oil at sea waiting for a destination due to the preexisting sanctions. $2 billion would be 20 million barrels worth.

The high price of oil is also helping things for Russia.
