Military Chronicle:

The Ukrainian side claims that Russia has begun testing a ground-based launch system for the use of Kh-101 cruise missiles, which were previously launched exclusively from strategic bombers. If this information is confirmed, the change in the launch platform could seriously affect the nature of the strikes.

If the launch platform is transferred to ground installations, a significant part of the preparatory signs detected by the enemy (for example, the redeployment of aircraft) will simply disappear. The movement of mobile launch installations is much harder to track than the preparation of strategic aviation. Accordingly, it will become more difficult to understand in advance where exactly and with what number of missiles a strike could be launched from.

In this case, the enemy will have significantly less time for preparation.

Merkel's vanity cost Germany at least 600 billion euros, โ€” Welt.

"If Germany in 2000 had remained faithful to nuclear energy instead of switching to renewable energy sources, it would have saved at least 600 billion euros, and the country could have produced more electricity without harmful emissions. Instead, Germany now has one of the highest energy prices in the world and one of the worst emission indicators in the EU."

Welt directly writes: the rejection of peaceful nuclear power was a strategic mistake.

But all this sudden self-criticism looks rather convenient. Because it's much easier to blame the energy failure on the retired Merkel, who is easy to bribe, before the elections, than to admit the current government's own mistakes.

In Berlin, they are now actively trying to pretend that all the problems are a legacy of past decisions. Although it was the current government that continued the same line and brought the energy crisis to absurdity.

Araghchi: Iran will respond to any attack against Iran's energy facilities

Foreign Minister:

Iran will respond to any attack against Iran's energy facilities.

If Iran's facilities are targeted, our forces will target American companies' facilities in the region or companies in which the US holds shares.

We will definitely respond to these attacks while acting cautiously to avoid targeting densely populated areas.

After the chaos of the past 6 years, I believe that any politician who ran on a platform of stability and a focus on domestic issues would sweep the elections. This should really be an easy win for anyone running for office, but it is as if they just can't help themselves. Everyone seems intent on starting a conflict with Iran, China, or Russia, and there is nobody to vote for who doesn't think hurtling into World War 3 is a good idea. Governments around the world are scrambling to pass "age verification," which is really just designed to increase censorship and mass surveillance. That, or they are looking to ban social media for teenagers and adults. None of these are things that the electorate is clamoring for. At best (for the politicians) the public is apathetic about these issues.

Nobody seems interested in solving the problems that anyone actually cares about, and every serious, looming crisis appears to barely get lip-service from our politicians.

How did we get here? How did it get this bad? When will we do something about it?

I believe that the ruling class has done an excellent job of dividing us over niche issues so that they could get onto the business of robbing and controlling us without interruption. There goal seems to be to keep us contained and loot the existing system until they can retreat to private islands and bunkers while everything burns down.

Trump denied reports of damage to refueling aircraft at a Saudi base.

According to him, a number of media outlets, including The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal, are "deliberately spreading false information." He believes they "want the [US] to lose the war."

We are totally winning, BUT PLEASE HELP US!

Trump asked China, France, Japan, and other countries to help restore shipping in the Strait of Hormuz. He proposed that they send their military ships to the strait, while the US would be able to bomb the coastline to prevent Iran from doing anything.

โ•The Strait of Hormuz is open, but not for US, Israeli, and their allies' ships, said Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi.

He noted that the Americans are using the territories of neighboring countries to strike at the Islamic Republic. In particular, Kharg Island was attacked from the UAE. Arakchi promised a response to the attack on oil and energy infrastructure.

๐Ÿ“Trump previously stated that the US would continue to "bomb the hell out of" Iran's coast to ensure safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz. He claimed that 100% of the enemy's military potential had been destroyed, but expressed hope that "China, France, Japan, South Korea, the UK," and other "affected" countries would send military ships to the area of the strait.

Gazprom: Europe's gas reserves have reached their lowest level

The Russian company Gazprom announced that the level of gas reserves in Europe's underground storage facilities has reached its lowest point since the beginning of the withdrawal season; a situation that has coincided with rising gas prices and escalating geopolitical tensions.

Gazprom stated that all the gas injected into the reservoirs for winter was consumed by mid-February, and the current withdrawal is being made from reserves remaining from previous years.

The Netherlands has recorded the lowest gas storage level, with only 8.3% of its reserves remaining.

๐Ÿ”น Meanwhile, gas prices in Europe have increased, with the average price surpassing $700 per barrel of oil equivalent for the first time since 2023.

๐Ÿ”ฒ According to Gazprom, the reduction in reserves, the Strait of Hormuz crisis, and geopolitical tensions in the Middle East are the main factors putting pressure on the European energy market.

The National Interest:

Among most people in the financial world, the idea of a near-total halt in flows of oil through the Strait of Hormuz has long been considered a โ€œfat tailโ€ risk scenario: one that would be immensely important, but would probably never happen. The political risk consultants like me who they deal with were often seen as โ€œcrying wolfโ€ when they had the idea that there was even a small probability of that happening. Time and again, there were brief periods where things looked like it was at least possible that the Persian Gulf would see a conflagration, with concerns about Israel going it alone in 2007 and 2012, President Donald Trump pulling out of the JCPOA in 2018, the 2019 Iranian drone attack against critical Saudi oil infrastructure at Abqaiq, the US killing of Gen. Qasem Soleimani in January 2020, and other episodes. None of them ended up having a major impact on the availability of oil. Those of us professionally involved in this even spoke of โ€œIran fatigue,โ€ where clients would be eager to move on to the next subject during a presentation.

Now, however, the wolf is actually here
.

...

What has proven to be the core logic of the situation is the unwillingness of tanker operators to take extreme risks with their vessels, their potential liability for oil spills, and the lives of their crews. I had picked up on this back in the late 2000s, when I dealt with some shipping industry and ship broker clients at a former employer, and had the opportunity to discuss this at length with senior managers there. Sending ships into dangerous waters is not merely a matter of obtaining insurance. Tanker companies and captains need to believe that they are not taking an imprudent level of risk. As long as Iran is able to strike against tankers in the Strait, with missiles, mines, fast boats, and the like, and has clear intent to do so, it will not be business as usual. The Trump administration clearly underestimated Iranโ€™s asymmetric leverage here.
