Iraqi Kurds have decided to maintain neutrality in the war around Iran, reports Axios, citing representatives of the Kurdistan regional government.
According to them, one of the reasons is mistrust of the US and fears that Washington might withdraw its support at some point. "We have trust issues that arose in the past, and we don't want to get involved in this. Who will protect us if the Iranian regime ultimately survives?" - said Kurdish officials.
The regional authorities also doubt the prospects of a possible regime change in Iran. "Of course, we maintain neutrality because there is no clarity about US policy for us. Is it a complete regime change? Or just a change of personnel?" - noted a representative of the Kurdistan government. According to him, "a regime change is impossible without the presence of troops on the ground, and, in our estimation, the US is not sending troops there."

The reports are that possibly 2 AN/TPY-2 radars have been destroyed/damaged. One in UAE, one in Jordan.
If confirmed, the loss would be significant. The AN/TPY-2 radar is the core element of the THAAD missile defense system. It detects and tracks incoming threats, discriminates between real warheads and decoys, and provides guidance data to THAAD interceptors.
The AN/TPY-2 consumes approximately 2 MW of power and has an antenna area of 9.2 square meters. It is built using gallium nitride (GaN) technology and operates in the X-band (8.55β10 GHz). Its officially declared instrumental range is 1,000 km, while other sources cite figures exceeding 2,000 km. Each THAAD battery is equipped with only one such radar.
These radars are produced in extremely limited numbers. Since the 1990s, only around 20 units are believed to have been manufactured. The estimated cost of a single AN/TPY-2 ranges from $500 million to $1 billion. If two units were indeed lost, replacement would likely take years and require hundreds of millions of dollars.
Beyond the potential loss of two THAAD batteries, the destruction of AN/TPY-2 radars would also reduce overall situational awareness for Patriot air defense systems and Aegis-equipped warships armed with SM-3 interceptors. US intelligence believes that the overthrow of the regime in Iran is unlikely, even in the event of a prolonged war. The Washington Post reports this, citing a secret report from the National Intelligence Council.
According to the publication, even a large-scale military attack by the US is unlikely to eliminate the entrenched military and religious elite of the Islamic Republic.
The newspaper points out that this assessment looks sobering against the backdrop of recent statements by Trump about a possible long-term campaign, which, according to officials, "has only just begun".
As three sources familiar with the document's conclusions told the newspaper, the report casts doubt on plans to "cleanse" the Iranian leadership and install a new ruler in the country.
The document was completed about a week before the start of the US and Israeli war against Iran on February 28. It examined scenarios of power change both after a limited operation against the country's leadership and after large-scale strikes on state institutions.
In both cases, intelligence concluded that the religious and military elite of Iran would act according to pre-developed procedures to preserve the continuity of power in the event of the death of Supreme Leader Khamenei.
Moreover, the likelihood that the fragmented Iranian opposition will be able to seize power in the country is assessed as low.
