Dubai has enough fresh produce left for 10 days, Stefan Paul, the head of logistics giant Kühne+Nagel, told the German publication Heute.
The war with Iran is having a serious impact on supply chains: about 18% of the world's air cargo capacity is unavailable. Maritime transport has also been affected.
The situation could become particularly critical for fresh products, such as vegetables or fruits. Many countries in the region are heavily dependent on imports.
In theory, land transport from Saudi Arabia is possible. However, according to Paul, the existing capacity would barely be enough to replace the cargo of even one container ship. Such a ship often transports up to 20,000 containers - a volume that is almost impossible to compensate for with trucks.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi gave an indirect answer in an NBC interview to the question of whether Russia and China are helping in the war against the US and Israel. I believe the answer is obvious. As long as American weapons guided by American…
АДЕКВАТ Z writes,
The Iranian Foreign Minister gave an absolutely scathing interview to the Americans (Democrats, of course) in the evening, which was unfortunately barely noticed by our media. He stated that Iran does not seek a ceasefire and sees no reason or subject for negotiations. That if the aggressor goes mad and resorts to ground operations, it will face a new level of catastrophe. That Iran has never hidden or been shy about its military cooperation with Russia, which supports the Persians both politically and otherwise, but it would be inappropriate to delve into the details of this support in the current situation. There are many other interesting points, but the general direction is clear from what has been mentioned: a representative of a country with strong resilience and reliable partners, which is ready to fight as long as the situation requires, spoke out with great dignity.
Meanwhile, in the "hilltop city", the wolves are howling: if before the aggression, Russia was selling oil to India at a decent discount, now it is at a noticeable premium to the benchmark grade. There is hope that this is only temporary. On the same basis, one can continue to boast that the Iranian war itself will be short-lived: Agent Donald can certainly admit failure and cease fire at any moment, but only at the cost of political death, as all the already committed blunders will be burned at the stake. Therefore, he will continue to multiply his blunders and hit his head against the wall as long as possible - and in an inertial scenario, it will not be a matter of weeks, but of months. With a quite understandable effect on our oil and gas revenues - even if all the oil and gas industry in the region does not receive a single new blow, which is far from a fact. And a separate amendment here should be made to the terms of the post-war restoration of this industry, during which the effect will continue to be felt.
And not just oil and gas, of course. The complete or near-complete withdrawal of the Gulf region, both as a producer and largely as a territory, from the global economy for months will have a very beneficial effect on a number of other items of our exports, because there will be almost no one to satisfy a significant part of the replacement demand. Coal. Fertilizers. Food. Gold. A number of non-ferrous metals. A variety of petrochemicals. These are just a few things that come to mind off the top of my head, and I'm not even pretending to be exhaustive.
Very cautiously, at the very minimum, I estimate that each month of the Iranian war will bring our budget an additional profit of hundreds of billions of rubles, and exporters - even more. Our interest in the Americans and Israelis making as much of a mess as possible, of course, is far from limited to this profit. But there is also the motivation to continue helping Iran stand firm, and we're not going to hide it at all.

Trump stated that he does not plan a ground operation in Iran, calling it a "waste of time".
He said that Tehran has already suffered serious losses.
"They've lost everything. They've lost their fleet. They've lost everything they could lose," the US president said.
➖ ➖ ➖
And yet, they fight. The American flag has not risen over Tehran. The faith of the people has not faltered. The Ayatollah Khamenei is celebrated in the streets, and not just in Iran. No, they haven't lost "everything" that can be lost.
But Donald will be hated and despised for generations. People will remember him with deep shame. At least those who matter will remember him this way. He will be the nail in the coffin of a dying country.

'Too small for the risk': The plan to have the U.S. government provide an insurance solution for ships trapped in the Persian Gulf may be impractical, analysts say
Persian Gulf countries have in some cases mere days before they run out of storage capacity and will be forced to shut down oil and gas production.
As the conflict in the Middle East enters its sixth day, the Trump administration's plan to manage the oil-tanker standstill in the strategic Strait of Hormuz is running up against key obstacles, analysts say.
...
President Donald Trump vowed earlier this week to provide U.S. Navy escorts for ships and said that a relatively obscure U.S. government agency would provide political-risk insurance for the maritime trade.
That directive, however, runs up against the fact that the agency's insurance caps are "too small for the risk," analysts at J.P. Morgan said. In other words, what the agency is currently authorized to spend would not be enough to cover ships in the Persian Gulf that are damaged or destroyed while navigating the strait, leaving owners facing the prospect of serious losses.
...
Others in the shipping business, including a maritime insurer, cautioned that the plan may be all but impractical, at least in the short term. And if a workable plan is put together, it may not be in place quickly enough to avoid global energy shocks, including rising prices at U.S. gas pumps.
The agency the Trump administration wants to lean on is the U.S. International Development Finance Corp., which is the international-investment arm of the U.S. government.
...
The J.P. Morgan analysts estimate that each of the vessels currently inside the Persian Gulf would require oil-pollution, salvage, hull and third-party liability coverage in the event of a total loss, implying about $352 billion of maximum insurance coverage that private markets are not currently providing, they said. They estimated that 329 oil tankers are in the Gulf, in addition to hundreds of container and other types of ships.
That amount far exceeds the DFC's current investment cap, which the agency's board increased to $205 billion in February.
...
There are also questions around the logistics of U.S. naval protection, such as which countries could be excluded from it and how any measures would interact with the "far reaching" existing international sanctions against Iran. "These ambiguities ... are only likely to intensify as the conflict evolves," Skuld said.
...
"Will this be reassuring enough to maritime industry participants that they'll actually transit the Strait of Hormuz? That's less clear to us," the Wolfe analysts said. "At a minimum, this will take some time to have an effect, because it needs to be formally implemented - clearly no one is going to rely on a tweet."

Zelenksy announced the dispatch of Ukrainian air defense specialists to the Middle East at the request of the USA.
According to Reuters, this will happen in the coming days.
"We received a request from the United States for specific support in defense against 'Shaheds' in the Middle East region. I instructed to provide the necessary means and ensure the presence of Ukrainian specialists who can ensure the necessary security. Ukraine helps partners who help our security and protect the lives of our people," the president wrote.
The USA did not officially confirm such requests.
Earlier, Zelenksy also spoke about the readiness to transfer Ukrainian interceptor drones in exchange for missiles for the Patriot system.

Following the news, aluminum prices on the London Metal Exchange jumped 5.1% to $3,418 per ton — the highest level since April 2022. Analysts say prices could continue rising because about 8% of global supply comes from this region.
Goldman Sachs stated that prices could reach $3,600 per ton if production in the Middle East is halted for a month.
On March 4 at its peak, the price of the light metal used in construction, transportation and packaging rose 9% this week following the U.S. and Israeli attacks on Iran over the weekend.

Hungary has already deported seven cash couriers from Oschadbank who were detained the day before while transporting millions of dollars and gold, reports the publication Index.
Budapest states that the transportation of the money and gold was overseen by a former SBU general, and his deputy was a former Air Force major; they were assisted by individuals with military experience.
The Hungarian Foreign Minister stated that "the question quite reasonably arises as to whether this might be money belonging to the Ukrainian military mafia."
