The US military shot down a drone of their own border guards in Texas with a laser. Members of the US House of Representatives were "shocked" by such news.

Due to the failure, the Federal Aviation Administration closed the airspace over the area, according to Associated Press.

"We are simply shocked by the news that the Department of Defense shot down a drone of the Customs and Border Protection using a high-risk system to counter unmanned aerial vehicles," the members of the US House of Representatives said in a statement.

Why the military used anti-drone technology is unclear.

This is the second case of the use of laser weapons in two weeks. Earlier, air balloons were shot down with a laser, mistaken for drones of Mexican cartels.
