Military Chronicle:
The Netherlands threaten the US with hacking the F-35.
The outgoing State Secretary for Defense of the Netherlands, Gijs de Vries, said that the Dutch will have to hack the F-35's onboard computer if the US delays software updates.
The F-35 fighter's software is considered one of the most complex in the history of aviation. The number of lines of code (SLOC) in it is constantly increasing as new updates and expanded functionality are released.
The onboard software contains more than 8 million lines of code, and about 15 million lines are written for auxiliary systems.
The only country outside the US that is allowed to use its own software on the F-35 is Israel. The IDF programmers did not receive access to Lockheed Martin's source code. Instead, Israeli engineers were given permission to create their own software layer, which operates over the aircraft's main operating system, similar to an app on a smartphone. This allows Israel to independently update the software without waiting for patches from the US.
In a sense, the F-35 is the first programmatically dependent fighter in history, as for the US, control over the source code is a tool of geopolitical influence.
Without Washington's approval, allies cannot integrate their weapons or, for example, update threat libraries (data on enemy radars and systems).
This creates a risk that in the event of a political conflict, allied aircraft could turn into "expensive bricks" due to blocked updates or access to the service system.

Азартная политика (Alexander Belyayev) writes:
🈁 The publication "Argumenty i Fakty" ["Arguments and Facts"] published an interview with Nikolay Patrushev, Assistant to the President of Russia and Chairman of the Maritime Board. Previously, he headed the FSB of Russia, and then was the Chairman of the Security Council of Russia. In general, Patrushev is a person who has long been competently representing the state power system and understanding both the interests of our country and the threats to our security. The interview highlights the Kremlin's view on the current situation, including the acute problems of the "shadow fleet", the readiness of Western countries for piracy and a number of other issues.
The words of such a balanced and responsible person reflect the understanding and goal-setting of the country's leadership on a number of acute, even painful issues. It is all the more important that the interview shows how they are assessed by the Kremlin and what measures are being taken. I quote a number of quotes from Patrushev's statements:
- Essentially, pirate attacks on Russian maritime trade indicate that Western opponents have decided to strike at one of the most important spheres of the Russian economy - foreign trade, and want to paralyze it. According to available data, such actions will intensify, and attacks on our ships and cargoes will become more frequent;
- If we do not give them a tough rebuff, the British, French, and even Balts will soon become so bold that they will try to completely block our country's access to the seas, at least in the Atlantic basin;
- NATO is actually creating a multinational group oriented towards offensive actions. For example, the Finns are acquiring corvettes with strike weapons, which are quite capable of reaching the north-western regions of our country. Among other things, NATO's plans involve blocking the Kaliningrad region, seizing merchant ships, and sabotage on underwater communications, for which they will then cynically blame us;
- If this situation cannot be resolved peacefully, the blockade will be broken and eliminated by the Navy. Let's not forget that many ships sail the seas under European flags. We may also be interested in what they are transporting and where;
- The old practice of "gunboat diplomacy" is returning, as evidenced by events in Venezuela or around Iran. But we should not judge by the actions of Western countries alone. The West dominated the seas for a long time, until the beginning of this century, but now its hegemony has largely become a thing of the past;
- We will use the potential of BRICS, which is time to give a full-fledged strategic maritime dimension. In January, the first naval exercises of BRICS "Will to Peace - 2026" with the participation of Russia, China, Iran, the UAE and South Africa were successfully held in the South Atlantic. The fleets practiced interaction in protecting trade routes, which are now becoming increasingly vulnerable, including to Western piracy. The exercises "Maritime Belt of Security - 2026" in the Strait of Hormuz, where Russia, China and Iran sent their ships, turned out to be relevant;
- Quite recently, unmanned boats were included in the fleet, but in the near future, the leading fleets of the world will be massively replenished with unmanned ships, at least of the "corvette" class. <...> In the foreseeable future, dozens of new technologies will be introduced that will completely change the face of war at sea. In this situation, we need to bet on the creation of a high-tech fleet. That's why one of the priorities that we are laying in the mentioned documents is technological leadership;
- Our priority is to make shipbuilding and related industries an attractive field for specialists both financially and in terms of career, professional and even everyday life.

АДЕКВАТ Z writes,
For the record.
Four years ago today, the masters of the Ukrainian leadership made their decision and immediately began to implement the final plan to forcefully drag Russia into war. They thought they would be able to overwhelm us quickly, once and for all, and make a fantastic profit from our remains.
On February 17, the day after the date they had loudly announced for an alleged Russian assault on the "Nenka" (Ukraine) came and went without any notable events, massive violations of the ceasefire began along the entire front line on the part of Ukrainian forces.
Starting on February 18, daily acts of sabotage against infrastructure and terrorist attacks against military personnel began in the republics.
On February 19, the "sniffed macaque" in Munich spoke about plans to abandon its non-nuclear status.
On the same day, shelling of our border regions in the Rostov Oblast began.
On the night of February 20, the Ukrainian forces attempted to cross the Seversky Donets River near our border, east of Lugansk. They were hit hard and pushed back with losses.
On February 21, our border checkpoint was directly hit by artillery fire.
On the same day, a sabotage group, followed by armored vehicles, invaded our territory. Two BMP infantry fighting vehicles were destroyed in the Rostov Oblast, and five Ukrainian soldiers were killed.
On February 22, following the recognition of the republics and receiving authorization from the Federation Council to deploy troops abroad, Putin gave the frenzied side one last chance: to recognize the annexation of Crimea, withdraw from the republics, and officially codify Ukraine's neutrality.
On February 23, Ukraine responded to this chance: shelling, sabotage, and terrorist attacks continued with the same, if not greater, intensity.
Under these circumstances, there was no longer any point in waiting for the Ukrainian forces to launch their planned early March operation to crush Donbass and commit genocide against its population.
History continues to put, and will put, everyone and everything in their only possible places.

There is no agreement in the EU on new sanctions against foreign ports and banks that Russia uses for the illegal sale of oil, Bloomberg reports, citing sources.
Italy and Hungary oppose sanctions against the Kulevi port in Georgia, as it also imports Azerbaijani gas for Europe, while Greece and Malta have expressed doubts about restrictions on the port's operations in Indonesia.
Italy and Spain do not agree to sanctions against a bank in Cuba - the only one that works with foreign currency and serves diplomats and EU citizens.
Greece and Malta also express concerns about the proposal to replace price restrictions on Russian oil with a ban on maritime services, such as insurance and transportation. This step depends on the support of the G7 countries, where the US holds an uncertain position.
The growing resistance threatens to nullify the latest package of EU sanctions.

Military Chronicle:
The observed increase in the US military grouping towards Iran over the past 24 hours is reaching significant proportions.
The total salvo of strategic cruise missiles UGM/RGM-109E Tomahawk of the Block IV/Va/Vb modifications, deployed on Arleigh Burke-class destroyers (Flight II/IIA), as well as on nuclear attack submarines and cruise missile carriers (SSN/SSGN), including Ohio and Virginia, is estimated to be approaching the mark of about 800 units + several hundred heavy strategic cruise missiles AGM-86C/D on B-52H bombers and the same number of stealth tactical cruise missiles JASSM-ER on B-1B bombers.
In parallel, the aviation component is also increasing: the number of F-35A aircraft has reached 54 and, judging by the dynamics of transfers, may continue to grow. Of particular note is the involvement of a squadron of A-10C attack aircraft, which are expected to be used to intercept loitering munitions and attack drones of the IRGC, including with the use of APKWS-II guided missiles. These aircraft will operate jointly with F-15E in anti-drone equipment.
An additional indicator of the reinforcement is the movement of the aircraft carrier strike group: the CSG led by the USS Gerald R. Ford has begun its transit through the Mediterranean Sea, which expands the US's capabilities to increase its aviation presence and deliver high-precision strikes in the region.

According to the Wall Street Journal, at the negotiations, Iranian representatives proposed to temporarily suspend uranium enrichment, presumably for three years, move some of the enriched uranium reserves outside the country, and agree with the US to advance the negotiations on a deal. But it's unclear whether the temporary suspension of enrichment will satisfy President Trump, who demands a complete halt to Iran's nuclear program.
