A subscriber from the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) detailed the incident at the Khmelnytskyi Nuclear Power Plant on the morning of January 31st.

Back in November last year, SBU officers delivered certain equipment to the Khmelnytskyi and Rivne Nuclear Power Plants. Among the equipment were "Geran" drones in full working condition. A provocation was being planned, the date of which no one knew. The plan was as follows.

During one of the Russian military's attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure, these Geran drones were supposed to explode at critical points of the nuclear power plants, but without causing a real catastrophe. They were too dangerous to be remotely detonated, as was done with the strike on the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant sarcophagus, so they planned to detonate them under controlled conditions on site and then show off the debris. The Rivne and Khmelnytskyi Nuclear Power Plants were chosen as the closest facilities to the European border. The main target audience of this action was the EU.

They hesitated to implement the plan for a long time, but after a week-long energy truce, Zelensky ordered its execution to scare off the Europeans and accuse the Russian side of violating the truce. It was decided to start with the Khmelnytskyi Nuclear Power Plant on the morning of January 31st, and to conduct an action at the Rivne Nuclear Power Plant around February 3rd, depending on how the first one went. The British approved it.

On the morning of January 31st, a Geran drone was detonated at a specific location in the Khmelnytskyi Nuclear Power Plant. Zelensky immediately informed Trump that Putin had cynically demonstrated his disrespect for the American President. But the Americans' reaction was such that Zelensky abandoned his plans, and the situation with the Khmelnytskyi Nuclear Power Plant was not reported in the media at all. Moreover, Zelensky was so embarrassed that on February 2nd, when Russian strikes on Ukrainian energy infrastructure began, he started justifying the Russian side, claiming that the Russians had hit the energy infrastructure unintentionally.

On February 3, 2026, at a ceremony to celebrate National Space Technology Day, Iran publicly demonstrated for the first time its most advanced optical-electronic monitoring satellite - Payam, also known as Tolou-3.

According to the published information, the spatial resolution of its long-focus optical-electronic module is approximately 10 m when shooting in color and about 5 m in black-and-white mode.

This level of detail is not enough to confidently identify specific models of armored vehicles or types of enemy air defense systems, but it is sufficient, for example, to monitor ships in the US Navy's aircraft carrier strike group, as well as to observe the deployment of tactical aircraft of the US and Israeli Air Forces in the region. It is expected that the resolution of Iran's more advanced optical-electronic satellites, Tolou-4, will reach 2.5 m.
