Dutch Member of Provincial Parliament openly supports Hamas

GroenLinks parliamentary group leader Marjolein van Elteren resurfaced last Thursday at a demonstration by Utrecht4Palestine. The member of the Provincial Parliament was present during the occupation of Utrecht Central Station with her face covered. Footage shows Van Elteren standing directly next to a woman holding a sign that reads 'Hup Hamas' (Go Hamas). This is not the first time the Utrecht politician has attended controversial pro-Palestinian protests.

Van Elteren serves as the parliamentary group leader for GroenLinks in the Provincial Council of Utrecht. She is also a board member of GroenLinks Woudenberg & Leusden. Her presence on Thursday follows multiple previous Utrecht4Palestine demonstrations where she was also spotted.

Paardekooper, who previously served as a Utrecht city councillor for the green-left party GroenLinks, was responding to a post that cited a purported old Frisian proverb: "In goeie boer is in deade boer" ("A good farmer is a dead farmer"). The original author claimed the phrase remains "still relevant today."

In her response, Paardekooper wrote: "In my increasingly frequent spells of helpless rage over the horrific damage caused by farmers, I think this too!"
