Media outlets often describe what's happening in Ceuta as a "migration crisis." But as someone who was born and raised there, I know it's much deeper and more complex than that.
This isn't just about migration. It's a geopolitical issue shaped by the complicated relationship between Spain, Morocco, and the wider region.
In this video, I explain why.

๐น๐ญA Jewish mother, 62, and her 23-year-old daughter were seriously injured after being attacked near a waterfall on the Thai island of Koh Phangan.
According to the family, the suspect approached them and asked where they were from. After the daughter replied that they were from Israel, he began criticizing Israel over the war in Gaza. The mother told him they were on vacation and did not want to discuss politics. He appeared to leave, but returned a short time later and allegedly launched a violent attack.
The suspect allegedly punched the mother repeatedly, bit part of her ear, and continued beating her in the head until she lost consciousness. She suffered a serious head injury, severe bleeding, and required medical treatment for her ear.
The daughter was attacked while trying to protect her mother. She suffered facial injuries, underwent surgery on her nose, and was hospitalized alongside her mother.
The suspect, who reportedly holds a French passport, fled the scene but was later arrested after a separate violent confrontation with Thai police. Authorities are investigating whether the attack was motivated by the victims' nationality.
We wish both of them a full and speedy recovery.

Iran's new Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei's health once again came under scrutiny as Israeli media claim that he is in critical condition and the "world could hear his death news soon." Since taking over the office following his father's killing in US-Israeli strikes in late February, Mojtaba has been away from the public eye.
For the longest time, Iran has denied reports questioning his health, but fresh claims from Israel suggested that he is currently in critical condition and has been hospitalised. According to Israeli outlet Channel 14, Khameneiโs condition was โextremely critical". The news channel cited sources inside Iran.

Amsterdam 2026: Hezbollah-linked Hind Rajab Foundation encourages people to report Israelis at Pride event.
Ahead of WorldPride in Amsterdam, flyers appeared throughout the city displaying the names and photographs of Jewish Israelis expected to attend the event. The flyers encouraged members of the public to report these individuals to the Hind Rajab Foundation.
Dutch authorities later said the flyers had fraudulently used the Municipality of Amsterdam's official logo, creating the false impression of government endorsement.

๐ต๐ญPhilippines. An Israeli passenger and an American passenger were detained after a fistfight broke out at Manila's Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) on August 6.
According to investigators, the confrontation began after Kent Scott Lee, 54, an American passenger, allegedly made antisemitic remarks about Noam Shimon Rosenberg, 37, an Israeli passenger. Both were waiting for flights to Cebu.
Rosenberg told investigators he heard Lee say:
"Jew's baby k***er... H***er was right, too bad H***er didn't finish k***ing the Jews."
Witnesses also reportedly said Lee mocked Rosenberg's Jewish faith.
Rosenberg then allegedly kicked Lee's trolley bag and struck him, leading to the fight captured on video.
Lee disputed that account, claiming Rosenberg interrupted his private conversation and attacked him without provocation.
Airport police separated and detained both men. They were taken to a hospital for medical assessment, and on August 7, the case was referred to the Pasay City Prosecutor's Office.
