"As is customary for military support for major security events, the Department will review National Guardsmen in Washington, DC. While we have no information to suggest an inside threat, we leave no stone unturned in securing the capital.

This type of review is often performed by law enforcement agencies for critical security incidents. In this case, however, the level of military involvement is unique. The DC National Guard will provide additional training to service members upon arrival in DC. If you see or hear something that is inappropriate, report it to your chain of command.

We appreciate the assistance of the FBI in assisting this task and for each of the 25,000 plus guardsmen who answered your nation's call and were quickly dispatched to the NCR."
