The facility is being built on an area of almost three thousand hectares in the district of Constanta (Romanian port on the Black Sea), on the basis of the already existing NATO airbase "Mihail Kogalniceanu".
The β¬2.5 billion project includes runways, weapons platforms and hangars for military aircraft.
The base will occupy about 2800 hectares with a total perimeter of 30 kilometers.
