Railway tracks sabotaged between Frankfurt and Cologne
The tracks between the two cities were sabotaged on Friday. During an early morning ride, the conductor noticed the changed behavior of his train.
Saboteurs had loosened the track-fastenings. It was possible that trains could have derailed further on.
The track was repaired quickly however and reopened.
The police don't rule terrorism as for such an act, specialised equipment is required.
This is not the first time terrorists would attempt attacks on German trains, previous incidents included wires pulled across tracks and manhole covers hung in the way of oncoming trains.
