NEW – China launched the Shenzhou 17 manned spacecraft today at 11:14 AM Beijing time from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center.

About 10 minutes after launch, the ship separated from the Long March-2F launch vehicle and entered its intended orbit.

Carrying three astronauts, Tang Hongbo, Tang Shengjie and Jiang Xinlin, the launch was a complete success.

The astronauts will conduct various experiments in the field of space science and install scientific equipment outside the vehicle.
The astronauts will conduct a trial service for the space station in outer space for the first time.

The Shenzhou 17 crew will return to Earth in April next year.
