The A9 highway was for a short time the most political autobahn in Germany on Monday morning. Probably very interesting for some, annoying for others. In any case, the truck drivers' microsleep was counteracted in an exemplary manner.

Because every few kilometers a banner hung on a bridge over the highway. There were slogans like:

"Be disobedient!",
"Resistance is a civic duty",
"Last exit before the dictatorship!"
Or "Overthrow Merkel!"

On the A9 alone, more than 60 bridges in both directions were fitted with such banners in one night.

The hectic pace with which the police removed the unruly slogans across the board probably reminds everyone who grew up in East Germany of the late GDR.
