ANNOUNCEMENT: DELTA LEADERSHIP ELECTION RESULTS

Dear DELTA Members,

Thank you for your active participation in the recent DELTA leadership elections. Your engagement is vital to our mission of strengthening emergency medicine across the continent.

We are excited to share the election results:

Chairperson (150 responses):
• Natnael Genene Girmaye – 49.3% (Winner)
• Uthman Adedeji – 34.7%
• George Gad Hanson – 16%

Vice Chairperson (106 responses):
• Asiimire Rebecca – 73.6% (Winner)
• Ernest Che Niba – 26.4%

We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Natnael Genene Girmaye and Asiimire Rebecca on their election as Chair and Vice Chair, respectively. We are confident that their leadership will elevate DELTA to new heights.

on September 23, 2025, the Ethiopian Society of Emergencyand critical care professionals (ESEP) convened a comprehensive review workshopfocused on the academic programs accreditation related to emergency andcritical care. This workshop was an integral part of a broader initiative aimedat strengthening the workforce capacity in emergency and critical care inEthiopia.The w
orkshop brought together key stakeholders, includingrepresentatives from relevant academic institutions, healthcare organizations,to collaboratively review and refine the accreditation standards for emergencyand critical care programs(both Nursing and phyician ). Participants engaged inin-depth discussions about the current state of these programs, identifyingareas for improvement and ensuring alignment with international best practices.A signific
ant focus of the workshop was review of datacollection tools and assessment rubrics designed to evaluate programeffectiveness and student competency in emergency and critical care settings.By establishing clear metrics and standards, the workshop aimed to enhance thequality of education and training provided to healthcare professionals in thiscritical field.Through collabo
rative efforts, the ESEP and its partnerssought not only to elevate the standards of emergency and critical careeducation but also to ensure that healthcare providers are well-equipped tomeet the growing demands of patient care in Ethiopia. The outcomes of thisworkshop are expected to contribute significantly to the ongoing projectdedicated to building a robust emergency and critical care workforce,ultimately improving health outcomes for communities across the country.
