On December 12, 2024, English Students' Association hosted a virtual academic session titled "Breaking into Book Translation Market", as part of the programs of the Research and Innovation Week. The guest speaker, Kavan Bashiri, publishing manager at Milkan Publishing House, consultant, and translation instructor, shared his extensive expertise in the field of book translation and publishing.

Held on the Adobe Connect platform, the session covered six main topics:
▫️ An Introduction to book translation market
▫️ Criteria for selecting a book for translation
▫️ Methods for exploring English texts
▫️ Essential skills for book translation
▫️ Ways to choose the right publisher
▫️Types of book translation contracts
Each topic was prepared to provide practical tips and specialized knowledge, enabling participants to develop the skills needed to enter the book translation market professionally.

This event was an invaluable opportunity for students and enthusiasts to gain a better understanding of current trends and industry requirements, taking significant steps toward advancing their careers in translation.

در تاریخ ۲۲ آذر ۱۴۰۳، انجمن علمی انگلیسی، به مناسبت هفته‌ی پژوهش و نوآوری، نشست علمی مجازی با عنوان «ورود به بازار ترجمه‌ی کتاب» برگزار کرد. سخنران این نشست، کاوان بشیری، مدیر تولید نشر میلکان، مشاور و مدرس ترجمه، با سابقه‌ای غنی در حوزه‌ی ترجمه و نشر، به ارائه‌ی تجربیات و دانش خود پرداخت.

این نشست، که در بستر ادوبی کانکت برگزار شد، شامل شش سرفصل اصلی بود:
▫️آشنایی با بازار ترجمه‌ی کتاب
▫️معیار انتخاب کتاب برای ترجمه
▫️نحوه‌ی دسترسی به کتاب‌های خارجی
▫️مهارت‌های لازم برای ترجمه‌ی کتاب
▫️پیداکردن ناشر مناسب
▫️انواع قرارداد ترجمه‌ی کتاب
در هر بخش از این نشست، نکات عملی و کاربردی ارائه شد تا شرکت‌کنندگان بتوانند مهارت‌های لازم برای ورود حرفه‌ای به بازار ترجمهٔ کتاب را کسب کرده و از تجربیات سخنران بهره‌مند شوند.

این رویداد علمی فرصتی ارزشمند برای دانشجویان و علاقه‌مندان به حوزه‌ی ترجمه بود تا با شناخت بهتر از اقتضائات روز و الزامات صنعت نشر، گامی مؤثر در مسیر پیشرفت حرفه‌ای خود بردارند.

📝 On Saturday, December 14, a lecture session "How to Distinguish Scholarly Journals from Non-Scholarly Ones" in the Faculty of Literature and Foreign Languages, Hafez Hall, was held by the presence of Dr. Ishaq Akbarian (Associate Professor of the English Department, University of Qom).
Initially, as an introduction, he mentioned the reasons for publishing articles.
Subsequently, he provided useful points, such as paying attention to the details of journals, considering the impact factor, and being mindful of the name and history of journals for identifying non-scholarly publications.
Finally, the impact of artificial intelligence on article writing and its potential challenges for young researchers were discussed.
This scientific meeting was held with the aim of enhancing the knowledge and research skills of the participants, and we hope the points raised will inspire young researchers to produce high-quality scientific content.

📝 در تاریخ ۲۴ آذرماه ۱۴۰۳، همزمان‌ با هفته‌ی پژوهش و فناوری، سخنرانی علمی «چگونه مجلات علمی را از مجلات غیرعلمی تشخیص دهیم؟» با حضور دکتر اسحاق اکبریان، دانشیار گروه زبان و ادبیات انگلیسی دانشگاه قم، در تالار حافظ دانشکده‌ی ادبیات و زبان‌های خارجی برگزار شد. در این نشست علمی، ایشان با ذکر مقدمه‌ای، به بیان دلایل و اهمیت انتشار مقالات علمی پرداختند.
در ادامه، ایشان با ارائه‌ی نکات مفید، به بررسی معیار‌هایی پرداختند که می‌توانند در تشخیص مجلات غیرعلمی کمک کنند. از جمله‌ی این معیارها، می‌توان به جزئیات مجلات، ضریب تأثیر و نام و سابقه‌ی مجلات اشاره کرد.
در پایان، پس از جمع‌بندی مطالب، به بررسی تأثیرات هوش مصنوعی بر نگارش مقالات پرداختند و چالش‌های احتمالی را برشمردند که ممکن است برای پژوهشگران جوان ایجاد شود.
این نشست علمی با هدف ارتقاء دانش و مهارت‌های پژوهشی شرکت‌کنندگان برگزار شد و امید است که مباحث مطرح‌شده راهگشای پژوهشگران جوان در مسیر تولید محتوای علمی با کیفیت باشد.

On December 15, 2023, a lecture session titled "And Still Humanism" was held in the Faculty of Literature and Foreign Languages, Seminar Room, as part of the programs of the Research and Innovation Week. The speech was made by Dr. Zahra Sadat Taheri.
Dr. Taheri began her lecture by exploring the concept of humanism and its historical trajectory from the Renaissance to the present day. She explained that humanism, as an intellectual movement, emphasizes human values, rationality, and individuality, playing a pivotal role in shaping modern thought throughout history, particularly during the Renaissance.
Subsequently, Dr. Taheri examined the relationship between humanism and the digital world, particularly focusing on new technologies such as artificial intelligence. She articulated that these tools can be interconnected with the principles of humanism in terms of valorizing the notion of progress; however, they also present detrimental effects and challenges, especially in regard to basic principles of himanism, including free will and individualism. A key point raised was the negative impact of continuous reliance on artificial intelligence regarding individuals' cognitive abilities. She noted that dependence on these technologies could lead to mental laziness, distancing individuals from critical thinking and creativity. Furthermore, social risks arising from the replacement of human interactions with digital communications were highlighted, with the suggestion that this shift could result in isolation and a decline in the quality of social relationships.
In conclusion, Dr. Taheri provided a comprehensive summary of the discussed topics and emphasized the importance of considering humanism's implications in the digital age. This academic session aimed to enhance participants' awareness of the challenges and opportunities facing students today.

در تاریخ ۲۵ آذرماه ۱۴۰۳، نشست علمی به مناسبت هفته‌ی پژوهش و نوآوری با عنوان "And Still Humanism" در اتاق سمینار دانشکده‌ی ادبیات و زبان‌های خارجی برگزار شد. این نشست با حضور جمعی از استادان و دانشجویان و سخنرانی خانم دکتر زهرا سادات طاهری، استادیار گروه انگلیسی دانشگاه کاشان، برگزار گردید.
دکتر طاهری در ابتدای سخنرانی خود به بررسی مفهوم اومانیسم و سیر تاریخی آن از دوران رنسانس تا به امروز پرداختند. ایشان توضیح دادند که اومانیسم به عنوان یک جنبش فکری، بر ارزش‌های انسانی، عقلانیت و فردیت تأکید دارد و در طول تاریخ، به ویژه در دوره‌ی رنسانس، نقشی کلیدی در شکل‌گیری تفکر مدرن ایفا کرده است.
در ادامه، دکتر طاهری به ارتباط اومانیسم با دنیای دیجیتال و فناوری‌های نوین مانند هوش مصنوعی پرداختند. ایشان بیان کردند که این ابزارها می‌توانند به نوعی با اصول اومانیسم، به ویژه مقوله های دانش و پیشرفت، پیوند داشته باشند، اما در عین حال، آثار مخرب و چالش‌هایی نیز نسبت به اصول بنیادین اومانیسم نظیر قدرت اختیار و فردگرایی به همراه دارند. یکی از نکات کلیدی که دکتر طاهری به آن اشاره کردند، تأثیر منفی استفاده‌ی مداوم از هوش مصنوعی بر توانایی‌های ذهنی افراد بود. وی بیان داشت که وابستگی به این فناوری‌ها می‌تواند منجر به تنبلی ذهنی شود و افراد را از تفکر انتقادی و خلاقیت دور کند. همچنین، ایشان به خطرات اجتماعی ناشی از جایگزینی تعاملات انسانی با ارتباطات دیجیتال اشاره کردند و گفتند که این موضوع می‌تواند باعث انزوا و کاهش کیفیت روابط اجتماعی شود.
