ERCS Appoints Abera Lulessa as New Secretary General
The Ethiopian Red Cross Society (ERCS) has appointed Abera Lulessa as its new Secretary General. With over a decade of dedicated service in various leadership roles, including Deputy Secretary General, Abera brings extensive experience and commitment to the Society’s humanitarian mission.
During the swearing-in ceremony, ERCS President Abera Tola emphasized the need to enhance the organization's capacity to respond to growing humanitarian needs. In his remarks, the newly appointed Secretary General expressed his gratitude for the trust placed in him and pledged to work diligently to strengthen ERCS’s impact.
We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Abera Lulessa and wish him success in his new role.

ERCS Joins Partners to Harmonize Ethiopia’s Drought Anticipatory Action Framework

For two days, on February 27–28, 2025, the Ethiopian Red Cross Society (ERCS) participated in a joint coordination meeting aimed at harmonizing Ethiopia’s drought anticipatory action framework. The workshop, organized in partnership with OCHA and EDRMC and funded by DG ECHO, brought together key stakeholders to align the trigger mechanism for anticipatory action.
Representatives from EDRMC, WFP, the National Meteorological Agency, UNICEF, IOM, UNDRR, Action Against Hunger, the Ministry of Agriculture, OCHA, NLRC, EMI, IFRC, and ERCS took part in the discussions. The meeting focused on enhancing early warning systems and strengthening coordinated response efforts to mitigate the impact of drought on vulnerable communities.
ERCS remains committed to proactive humanitarian action, ensuring timely responses to disasters through collaborative efforts.

የኢትዮጵያ ቀይ መስቀል ማኅበር ወላይታ ዞን ቅርንጫፍ ጽ/ቤት 11ኛ ጠቅላላ ጉባዔውን አካሄደ፡፡
ጠቅላላ ጉባዔውን በንግግር የከፈቱት የደቡብ ኢትዮጵያ ክልል ቅርንጫፍ ጽ/ቤት የቦርድ አቃቤ ነዋይ አቶ ዘላለም ዘሪሁን እንዳሉት፣ የክልል ቅርንጫፍ ጽ/ቤቱ በአዲስ መልክ እየተደራጀ በመሆኑ ነባር የዞን ቅርንጫፍ ጽ/ቤቶች በትብብር ሊሰሩ እንደሚገባ አሳስበዋል፡፡ የማኅበሩን አባላት ቁጥር ለማሳደግ የሚደረገው ጥረትም ተጠናክሮ ሊሰራበት የሚገባ ጉዳይ መሆኑን ገልፀዋል፡፡
የኢትዮጵያ ቀይ መስቀል ማኅበር የደቡብ ኢትዮጵያ ክልል ቅርንጫፍ ጽ/ቤት ኃላፊ አቶ ተስፋዬ ዱንዳ በጉባዔው ላይ ባስተላለፉት መልዕክት፣ አምቡላንሶችን በአግባቡ ጥቅም ላይ ማዋል እንዲሁም የማኅበሩን ሰብዓዊ ተልዕኮ በህብረተሰቡ ውስጥ ለማስረፅ ተናቦና ተቀናጅቶ መስራት እንደሚያስፈልግ አመልክተዋል። የህብረተሰቡን ተሳትፎ ለማስፋት የቀይ መስቀል ክበባትን በትምህርት ቤቶች ማቋቋም እንደሚያስፈልግም ተናግረዋል፡፡
የወላይታ ዞን ቅርንጫፍ ጽ/ቤት የቦርድ ሰብሳቢ አቶ ደስታ ዳና በበኩላቸው፣ እያንዳንዱ የማኅበሩ ተግባር የህብረተሰቡን ባለቤትነት ባረጋገጠ መልኩ መከናወን እንደሚገባው በመግለፅ፣ ከሚመለከታቸው አካላት ጋርም ተቀናጅቶ መስራት እንደሚያስፈልግ ተናግረዋል።
በዕለቱ የተጓደሉ የቦርድ አመራሮችን ለመተካት አዳዲስ የቦርድ አባላት የተመረጡ ሲሆን፣ በአባላት ማበራከት ከፍተኛ አፈፃፀም ላስመዘገቡ የወረዳ መዋቅሮች የዋንጫና ሰርተፊኬት ተበርክቶላቸዋል፡፡
በጉባዔው ላይ የጠቅላላ ጉባኤው አባላትን ጨምሮ የተጋበዙ የዞን እና ወረዳ የመንግስት የሥራ ኃላፊዎች ተገኝተዋል።
ጠቅላላ ጉባዔውን በንግግር የከፈቱት የደቡብ ኢትዮጵያ ክልል ቅርንጫፍ ጽ/ቤት የቦርድ አቃቤ ነዋይ አቶ ዘላለም ዘሪሁን እንዳሉት፣ የክልል ቅርንጫፍ ጽ/ቤቱ በአዲስ መልክ እየተደራጀ በመሆኑ ነባር የዞን ቅርንጫፍ ጽ/ቤቶች በትብብር ሊሰሩ እንደሚገባ አሳስበዋል፡፡ የማኅበሩን አባላት ቁጥር ለማሳደግ የሚደረገው ጥረትም ተጠናክሮ ሊሰራበት የሚገባ ጉዳይ መሆኑን ገልፀዋል፡፡
የኢትዮጵያ ቀይ መስቀል ማኅበር የደቡብ ኢትዮጵያ ክልል ቅርንጫፍ ጽ/ቤት ኃላፊ አቶ ተስፋዬ ዱንዳ በጉባዔው ላይ ባስተላለፉት መልዕክት፣ አምቡላንሶችን በአግባቡ ጥቅም ላይ ማዋል እንዲሁም የማኅበሩን ሰብዓዊ ተልዕኮ በህብረተሰቡ ውስጥ ለማስረፅ ተናቦና ተቀናጅቶ መስራት እንደሚያስፈልግ አመልክተዋል። የህብረተሰቡን ተሳትፎ ለማስፋት የቀይ መስቀል ክበባትን በትምህርት ቤቶች ማቋቋም እንደሚያስፈልግም ተናግረዋል፡፡
የወላይታ ዞን ቅርንጫፍ ጽ/ቤት የቦርድ ሰብሳቢ አቶ ደስታ ዳና በበኩላቸው፣ እያንዳንዱ የማኅበሩ ተግባር የህብረተሰቡን ባለቤትነት ባረጋገጠ መልኩ መከናወን እንደሚገባው በመግለፅ፣ ከሚመለከታቸው አካላት ጋርም ተቀናጅቶ መስራት እንደሚያስፈልግ ተናግረዋል።
