Bridging the gap in infant hearing device validation 👶

For infants who have been fitted with a hearing device, it is important to know whether they are getting the intended benefit to support their speech and language development.

Aided cortical testing offers an objective method to validate the benefit of a fitted hearing device in patients who cannot subjectively perform behavioral hearing testing 🦻

This includes infants but also older children and adults with complex or additional needs.

In this eWorkshop, Amanda Goodhew, MSc Audiology, will provide an introduction to aided cortical testing with a particular focus on the pediatric application of the test.

Learning objectives:

✅ Explain the clinical need and benefit of aided cortical testing for the pediatric patient group.

✅ Describe how to prepare for and perform an aided cortical measurement.

✅ Determine an appropriate testing strategy for aided cortical testing based on the patient’s expected audibility.
