Momentum is a term from physics that means the force that keeps an object moving. However, we can also use it in a life context.

Momentum is what helps things continue once they have started. Small efforts build on each other, and progress begins to flow more naturally.

May this week bring you steady momentum — keeping you moving forward with ease. ☘️

Feeling more tired, less focused, or just “not like yourself” during fall and winter is more common than we think.

You might have heard of Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD). It is a type of depression that follows a seasonal pattern. It’s not just “winter blues.” SAD can affect how you feel, think, sleep, and function day to day.

🎥 Here’s a short video explaining how light therapy works and why it can help with seasonal depression

Do you notice changes in your mood when there’s less daylight? React below

❤️ Yes, I feel it especially in winter
🤔 No, I don’t really notice a difference

Bias is the tendency to judge people or ideas unfairly, letting personal beliefs influence our thinking instead of facts. In a modern world full of information, opinions, and algorithms, bias shapes what we see and believe.

Learning to recognize bias is essential for critical thinking because it helps us question what we hear, challenge our assumptions, and see the world more clearly.🧩

It’s no secret that when you’re learning a new language, consistency and practice are key. But sometimes it’s hard to find fun ways to practice and improve your English. One great solution is to gamify the learning process. When learning feels like play, your brain relaxes — and that’s when real progress happens.

For example, there’s a game called Wordle by The New York Times.

Every day, you get 6 attempts to guess a new 5-letter word. It’s a fun daily challenge that helps you learn new words and think more actively in English.

The first time I played, I suddenly realized how hard it is to come up with even one 5-letter English word on the spot. But that struggle is actually the magic part. You think, you try, you fail, you adjust — and when you finally guess the word, the feeling is so satisfying.

Metamorphosis is a word from biology that describes how some animals, like butterflies or frogs, transform completely from their young form into their adult form. But it can also describe the changes we go through in life — shifts in mindset, habits, or circumstances that shape who we are.

Change is not something to fear. Often, the hardest times shape us, challenge us, and help us grow into stronger, wiser versions of ourselves. 🩵🦋

The best way to spend an evening when the cold sets in? Make a cup of tea, wrap yourself in a cozy blanket, and dive into a comforting book. If that sounds like your kind of evening, we’ve got you covered! Here’s a list of book recommendations from the ENGin Team — a chance to discover what they love to read and maybe find your next favorite story.

Percy Jackson Series by Rick Riordan

A thrilling adventure series where modern-day kids discover they are children of Greek gods, and must navigate a world full of monsters, magic, and epic quests. Fun, fast-paced, and clever, these books may be written for kids, but are just as enjoyable for adults.
Katerina (ENGin Founder and CEO)

❄️ Bridget Jones’s Diary by Helen Fielding
The novel, written as a personal diary, follows Bridget Jones over the course of a year.
“I love coming back to it during cold weeks as it always makes me laugh and puts me in a good mood even everything is so depressing. If you haven’t read it yet (or haven’t watched the movies), I truly recommend it! They’re wonderfully funny, warm, and surprisingly comforting”
Sofiia (Student Recruitment and Experience Manager)

🐾 Dom’s Dream Kingdom (Дім для Дома) by Viktoriia Amelina
“My recent favorite book is Dom’s Dream Kingdom. The narrator of this story is a dog named Dom, and—as with many pets—people entrust him with their deepest secrets, the kind that can sometimes be difficult to share even with those closest people to them.” The book is written by the contemporary Ukrainian author Viktoriia Amelina, who was killed by a russian missile strike in Kramators'k in 2023.
Ira (Matching Lead)

❤️ The Art of Loving by Erich Fromm
This book is a philosophical and psychological exploration of love. Thought-provoking and honest. “Even halfway through, I know I’d recommend it to everyone.”
Sasha (Director of Special Programs)

🌨 Wintering: The Power of Rest and Retreat in Difficult Times by Katherine May
A soft reminder that slowing down is not failure. This book helps you embrace rest, reflection, and self-care — especially when the world feels overwhelming. Perfect winter reading.
Emily (Development Manager)

The Odyssey by Homer (trans. Robert Fagles)
An epic journey of courage, resilience, and the long road home. A timeless reminder that perseverance and cleverness can carry us through even the darkest trials.
Michael Interviewer (Volunteer))

🍫 Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl
🌪 The Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum

Simple and joyful classics. “Perfect for when I want to exercise my brain at a walk instead of a run.”
Robert (Interviewer (Volunteer))

The Bartimaeus Series by Jonathan Stroud
The story follows the career of a teenage magician Nathaniel and a five-thousand-year-old djinni Bartimaeus. “I highly recommend it for winter because it’s the perfect escape: a chance to relax while getting completely lost in an incredibly fascinating story.”
Denis (Operations Associate)
