We are proud to share the success of this past weekendβs EMSA Ethiopia Capacity Building Workshops, hosted in collaboration with EMSA-Lorcan.
Over two days, participants engaged, both in person and online, in Public Health Leadership Training (PHLT), Professional Research Exchange Training (PRET), Training New Trainers (TNT), and Training SRHR Trainers (TSRHRT).
The workshops created a vibrant space for medical students to strengthen their skills in leadership, research, advocacy, and facilitation, equipping them to drive meaningful change in their communities.

β¨ Meet our sixth Trainer for the online Advocacy CB series, Seblewongel Birku.
Seblewongel is a dedicated Medical Doctor and Sociology degree graduate with a passion for global health advocacy and capacity building. As a former President of the Ethiopian Medical Students' Association at Addis Ababa (EMSA-AA) and Vice-President for Capacity Building at EMSA-Ethiopia, Seblewongel has demonstrated exceptional leadership and a strong dedication to empowering her peers.
As a WHO Youth Delegate for Ethiopia, she represented the voices of young health professionals on a global stage.
In addition to her advocacy work, Seblewongel is a content creator. Her multifaceted expertise makes her a vital contributor to the fields of medicine and global health.

π₯ Ruth is a media and development practitioner with over 7 years of experience in research, project management, human rights campaigns, social justice advocacy, and communications.
π She serves as Secretary of the 15-member Africa Youth Advisory Board on Disaster Risk Reduction (AYAB-DRR), established by the African Union Commission.
π She represented youth during the Global Platform on Disaster Risk Reduction where she spoke against youth being used as tokens.
π£ Ruth has a proven track record of advocacy, including establishing the first-ever Zimbabwe Youth Desk on
DRR, recognized by the Zimbabwe government.
π She holds a Masterβs degree in Development Studies and
a BSc Hons degree in Journalism and Media Studies.
