🗂 4️⃣ Mixed-Approach Teaching (TBL, TBLT & more)

We discussed how some teachers naturally blend 🔤

⭐️ Communicative tasks
⭐️ Non-communicative tasks
⭐️ Task-Based Learning
⭐️ Language-focused work

…and how modern classrooms often benefit from this hybrid approach.
The group shared experiences, and we compared what each method gives learners. 🎯

👀 5️⃣ First Activity We Explored — *Everybody Up*

This was the fun part! 🆗
We read the first activity in the book 🔤
Everybody Up — a mingling, movement-based task designed for real interaction.

How it works 🔤

1️⃣ Students stand up and move to the center of the room. 😎
2️⃣ They form small groups (3–7 people).
3️⃣ They complete a communicative task (e.g., *find out who plays a musical instrument and why*). 🎤
4️⃣ Groups report their findings back to the class. 🗣️😀

Why Harmer says it works 🔤

It changes the physical space ➡️ energy rises
It feels “real-life” and human
Students talk about personal topics with meaning
It creates a natural communicative atmosphere
Movement = engagement + motivation

Alternatives we discussed 🔤

🎨 Hobbies
⚽️ Sports
🗺 Places learners visit
😀 Favorite artists
🔖 Books they love

Anything with universal appeal works beautifully.

Online Version 🔤

🖥 Breakout rooms + report back
💅 "Hands up" protocol for questions
💬 Works surprisingly well even online

⭐️ Final Message

Great communicative activities are not about labels — they’re about engagement.
Tonight’s session reminded us that when learners *move*, *talk*, *connect*, and *process deeply*,
that’s where real learning happens. 👀
