➡️ 🏇 Horse race dictation: a fun listening challenge! ➡️

➡️ Can you predict the first word of a sentence just like guessing the winner of a horse race? 🏆

🌟 In this listening activity, students:
🔹 Listen to a fast-paced race commentary 🎙
🔹 Guess the order of words in a scrambled sentence
🔹 Sharpen their prediction and listening skills

⏭️ How it works:
1️⃣ Words are written in a random order on the board.
2️⃣ Students predict the first word in the sentence.
3️⃣ They listen carefully to the commentary to figure out the correct order.
4️⃣ The winner? 🏅 The first word in the sentence!

💬 Think you can guess the winner? Try it and share your sentence in the comments! 👇

✔️ Age group: 13-17

🌿 To all my fellow English teachers across Iran…

I hope you’re safe, healthy, and holding on to hope during these challenging times. Remember, no one walks the teaching journey—whether in-person or online—alone. Whenever you need any of the following, I’m here for you:

✏️ **Fresh lesson plans and creative ideas**
🖥 **Access to platforms or tech troubleshooting**
🧭 **Pedagogical guidance, career advice, or mentoring**
🤝 **Simply a listening ear and a word of encouragement**

In these anxious days filled with distressing news of war, if you ever need *just* someone to listen—without judgment, simply to help you feel calmer—I’m truly here. Please take this message seriously; it isn’t a casual offer. **Whatever support I can give, I will.**

> “After every hardship and the clamour of war, the dawn of peace arrives.”
> «پس از هر سختی و هیاهوی جنگ، سحرِ آرامش فرا می‌رسد.»

Together we can face challenges more easily; when we stand united, we’re stronger.

🔣#3_Quiz: Control vs Nature🔣

🧠 So today I’ve got an interesting question for you all — something that really gets to the heart of how we teach.
📚👨‍💻 It’s about your teaching style and the kind of classroom you naturally create.

🎯 Some teachers thrive on structure and step-by-step control...
🧩 Others prefer a more flexible, real-life communication approach.

🖼 👉
Look at the image above... Which side feels more like you?

Poll Follow-up
Thanks for voting, teachers! 🙌
Now here’s the thing…

🔄 It’s not really an either-or situation!
While some teachers lean more toward control (structure, grammar, testing) 📏
and others gravitate toward nature (communication, exposure, fluency) 🌱
➡️ The truth is: most effective classrooms blend both.

Let’s break this down together 👇

💎 #2 Methods:
Control vs Nature

🆕 In this series, we’re unpacking the core ideas behind foreign language teaching methods — but keeping it super practical 🛠 for your real-life classroom.

🎯 Today’s focus: Two Main Camps in ELT

Most methods — whether classic or modern — usually fall into one of these two camps:

🔴🟠🔴🟠🔴🟠🔴🟠🔴🟠

💎➡️ Control – Language Study
📌 Teacher-centered & structured
📌 Step-by-step delivery with clear stages
📌 Learning is measured through tests and fixed outcomes
📌 Focus is often on grammar, accuracy, and curriculum coverage

🧠 Common methods:
– Grammar-Translation
– Audiolingual Method
– PPP (Presentation–Practice–Production)

🔴🟠🔴🟠🔴🟠🔴🟠🔴🟠

💎➡️ Nature – Language Acquisition
📌 Learner-centered & communication-based
📌 Students use language for real purposes, even with mistakes
📌 Learning is more intuitive and experiential
📌 Assessment is holistic, not always formal

🎮 Common methods:
– The Natural Approach
– TBLT (Task-Based Language Teaching)
– Dogme ELT

🔴🟠🔴🟠🔴🟠🔴🟠🔴🟠

💡 Key Takeaway:
Neither works perfectly on its own.
The real art of teaching lies in knowing when to take control, and when to step back and let communication happen.

🧩 Balance is where the magic happens!
