EDI Story Night Celebrates Resilience, Innovation and Entrepreneurial Success
The Entrepreneurship Development Institute (EDI) hosted an inspiring Story Night as part of the Ministry of Labor and Skills’ five-year journey celebration, bringing together successful entrepreneurs and aspiring young business leaders.
The event featured three accomplished entrepreneurs Engineer Bejai Naiker, Kalekidan Seleshi, and Solomon Ayenew who shared their personal journeys, challenges, failures, and achievements, offering practical lessons on resilience, innovation, and enterprise development.
Engineer Bejai Naiker, Founder and CEO of Bejai Industrial & Engineering Solutions PLC, highlighted his contribution to local manufacturing, job creation, and industrial innovation, including supplying equipment to more than 140 animal feed factories.
Kalekidan Seleshi, a textile entrepreneur, shared her remarkable journey from severe personal and financial challenges to building a growing manufacturing business that now employs approximately 50 workers.
Meanwhile, Solomon Ayenew, Founder of Dir Addis Engineering PLC and Emawa Hypermarket, shared his inspiring transformation from a day laborer and shoeshine boy into a successful industrial and retail entrepreneur.
The speakers’ stories emphasized a shared message: success is rarely a straight path. Resilience, continuous learning, courage, and persistence are essential to turning challenges into opportunities.
The Story Night reaffirmed EDI’s commitment to creating platforms that connect experienced entrepreneurs with the next generation and promote a culture of entrepreneurship, innovation, and enterprise creation in Ethiopia.

Over 700 Young Ethiopians Graduate from QIYAS Skills for Jobs EASE Project Digital Skills Programs, Expanding Workforce Capabilities
ADDIS ABABA, September 7, 2026— More than 700 young Ethiopians have graduated from specialized digital skills training programs under the QIYAS Skills for Jobs EASE Project, with over 50 graduates already securing employment or launching independent business ventures.
The graduates completed market-driven technical tracks delivered across several regional hubs through two main implementation partners:
DAB-DRT: Graduated over 500 participants from its Digital Marketing Bootcamp in Addis Ababa, Hossana, Kombolcha, and Dessie, focusing on digital branding, online promotion, content creation, and social media management.
MOHAS Consult: Graduated 228 trainees across Addis Ababa, Kombolcha, and Hossana in technical disciplines including Full-Stack Web Development, Cybersecurity, AWS Cloud Computing, and Graphic Design.
The training initiative aims to reduce youth unemployment by directly aligning workforce skills with private-sector demand and expanding Ethiopia’s talent pipeline for the growing digital economy.
