Miners do much more than simply create new BTC. They play a key role in keeping the Bitcoin network running.
Miners collect transactions into blocks and compete to find a valid hash through Proof of Work. Once a block is accepted by the network, its transactions become part of the Bitcoin blockchain.
But what would happen if all miners suddenly disappeared? New blocks would stop being produced, meaning new transactions would no longer be confirmed. Bitcoin already recorded on the blockchain wouldn’t disappear, but the network would effectively stop processing transactions until mining resumed.
This is why hashrate matters beyond mining rewards. The computing power contributed by miners helps keep Bitcoin operating and makes rewriting the blockchain increasingly difficult. In other words, miners don’t just earn Bitcoin — they are an essential part of how the Bitcoin network functions.

September 21–27
It’s Monday again, so here’s our weekly digest of key events in the crypto market. Let’s take a look at what happened over the past week.
🔹 Bitcoin held its ground around $84,000, but the Bitcoin Regime Score returned to a nearly neutral level, while the indicator’s “confidence” dropped to 22%. Analysts are now giving mixed signals: the indicator does not currently confirm a sustainable bullish trend. A move above +30 would carry more weight if the Bitcoin Regime Score remains positive and the model’s signals become more consistent. A drop below -30 would indicate that bearish conditions are prevailing.
🔹 CryptoQuant analysts also point to a possible slowdown in Bitcoin’s growth around the $90,000 level. The reason could be large-scale profit-taking by short-term traders.
🔹 StarkWare recalculated the cost of GPU computation for a quantum-resistant Bitcoin transaction (QSB) as part of an open competition. In just one week, the estimate dropped from approximately $320 to $67.
🔹 A description of Shielded Bitcoin, a metaprotocol for private transfers on Bitcoin’s base layer, was published on the Delving Bitcoin forum. The solution does not require a soft fork, operators, or bridges. The system relies on notes — records containing an amount and recipient data. When making a transfer, the user includes encrypted notes, a nullifier, and a compact zero-knowledge proof in a regular Bitcoin transaction.
🔹 JPMorgan: Bitcoin has risen above its estimated mining cost for the first time in 280 days.
We’ll be back soon with more updates — until then, stay tuned!

Nowhere! The Bitcoin network simply starts creating fewer new BTC.
Originally, miners received 50 BTC for each block they mined. After every halving, the block subsidy is cut in half: 25 BTC, 12.5 BTC, 6.25 BTC, 3.125 BTC…
A halving occurs every 210,000 blocks, roughly once every four years. This mechanism gradually slows the issuance of new coins and helps keep Bitcoin’s maximum supply capped at 21 million BTC.
As time goes on, fewer new bitcoins are rewarded to miners for each block they find.

Not necessarily!
Your hashrate may stay exactly the same, but the amount of BTC you mine can change over time. The result depends on factors such as network difficulty, Bitcoin’s total network hashrate, transaction fees, and mining pool luck.
For example, if more computing power joins the Bitcoin network, mining difficulty may increase. In that case, the same 100 TH/s represents a smaller share of the network’s total computing power.
That’s why miners should watch not only the price of BTC, but also what’s happening inside the Bitcoin network itself.

September 28–October 4
It’s Monday again, so here’s our weekly digest of key events in the crypto market. Let’s take a look at what happened over the past week.
🔹 Last week, Bitcoin climbed to $86,913, its highest level since September 23. Before that, the asset had traded mainly within the 82,500–85,700 range throughout the week, according to a QCP report. At the time of publication, Bitcoin is trading at around $85.829 .
🔹 CryptoQuant warned of the risk of a short-term Bitcoin correction. Unrealized on-chain profits among short-term holders have reached a 21-month high. Capital.com analyst Daniela Hathorn identified the 87,000–88,000 range as the nearest resistance level, while 84,000–85,000 represents the first support zone in the event of a decline. According to JPMorgan estimates, Bitcoin's current production cost is approximately $85,000. Keeping the price above this level reduces pressure on miners and minimizes the risk of forced selling.
🔹 Bitget has identified the cause of the security breach, reopened Bitcoin withdrawals, and begun gradually restoring other withdrawals following the $388 million attack. Within the first hour after withdrawals resumed, the platform processed 9,585 requests totaling approximately 4,098 BTC.
🔹 According to Bitget CEO Gracy Chen, the exchange has fixed the vulnerability exploited by the attackers.

Bitcoin’s source code is open and available to everyone. In theory, any developer can copy it, modify certain parameters, and launch their own cryptocurrency. But would it become a second Bitcoin?
No! Bitcoin’s value comes not only from its code but also from its decentralized network, miners’ computing power, security, and the trust of millions of users.
A copy of Bitcoin would exist as a separate cryptocurrency with its own network and transaction history. It would not increase the original Bitcoin’s supply beyond its established limit of 21 million BTC.

On January 3, 2009, Satoshi Nakamoto created Bitcoin’s first block – the genesis block – with a reward of 50 BTC. But there’s an interesting detail: these coins can never be spent!
The reason is that the genesis block was hardcoded into Bitcoin’s software, and its reward was never added to the set of spendable coins (UTXO). As a result, these coins cannot be used in transactions.
Those first 50 BTC will remain permanently locked in the blockchain, serving as a monument to the birth of Bitcoin. Even someone with Satoshi’s private key would be unable to spend these particular coins!

It’s Monday again, so here’s our weekly digest of key events in the crypto market. Let’s take a look at what happened over the past week.
🔹 Aggregate Bitcoin demand has returned to positive territory, exceeding 14,000 BTC, even as the price of the leading cryptocurrency continues to decline. This was highlighted by CryptoQuant analyst Darkfost.
🔹On September 24, the Shielded Bitcoin specification was published online. According to its developers, the protocol aims to bring Zcash's privacy model to the Bitcoin network without requiring a soft fork. However, no working implementation is available yet, and the developers plan to describe the system's deposit and withdrawal mechanisms in a separate research paper.
🔹 Justin Drake suggested that AI could potentially break ECDSA before quantum computers become capable of doing so.
🔹 In the third quarter, Japan's Metaplanet sold 10,000 BTC and subsequently purchased 11,000 BTC. As a result, the company's Bitcoin reserves increased by 1,000 BTC, reaching 44,000 BTC as of September 30.
🔹 The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) approved the listing of the Volatility Shares 3x Bitcoin ETF and 3x Ether ETF on Cboe BZX. These funds are designed to provide three times the daily performance of BTC and ETH through futures-based instruments. The regulator also approved similar 3x leveraged funds tracking gold, silver, oil, and natural gas.

Imagine thousands of new ASIC miners joining the Bitcoin network, doubling its total computing power. You might think the new BTC would now be mined twice as fast, right?
But that's not how it works!
Bitcoin automatically adjusts its mining difficulty every 2,016 blocks — approximately every two weeks.
More miners – higher difficulty. Fewer miners – difficulty eventually decreases. The goal is to maintain an average block time of around 10 minutes.
That's why even millions of powerful ASIC miners can't keep accelerating the creation of new BTC indefinitely!

It’s Monday again, so here’s our weekly digest of key events in the crypto market. Let’s take a look at what happened over the past week.
🔹 Ahead of the release of US consumer inflation data, Bitcoin's price dropped below $81,000. However, it quickly recovered to around $83,400.
🔹 The Crypto Fear & Greed Index fell from 61 to 53 points, moving into neutral territory.
🔹 Ledger acknowledged the presence of implants in its devices. According to YFarmX experts, 530 addresses were affected, with total losses reaching $103.4 million.
🔹 Coinbase published its position on preparing Bitcoin for the emergence of powerful quantum computers. The exchange called for early planning of a transition to post-quantum cryptography, as protocol changes and the migration of funds could take years.
🔹 On October 16, nine crypto industry organizations announced the creation of the Quantum Alliance to develop common approaches to post-quantum blockchain security.

If you send BTC to the wrong address and the transaction has already been confirmed by the network, it cannot be reversed!
Bitcoin has no bank or central administrator who can return your funds. That's why it's so important to double-check the recipient's address before sending.
Have you ever made a mistake when sending cryptocurrency? 🤓

Contrary to popular belief, ASIC miners don't solve complex equations. Instead, they perform trillions of hash calculations per second, trying to find a block hash that meets the Bitcoin network's requirements.
The higher a miner's hashrate, the more attempts it can make and the greater its chances of finding a block!
That's why computing power plays such an important role in Bitcoin mining.

It’s Monday again, so here’s our weekly digest of key events in the crypto market. Let’s take a look at what happened over the past week.
🔹 Bitcoin's hashrate has exceeded 1 ZH/s for the first time since March. Mining difficulty has also increased alongside the network's computing power. During the latest adjustment on October 16, the figure rose by 5.92% to 140.58 T.
🔹CryptoQuant founder and CEO Ki Young Ju called the hashrate recovery an "indirect bullish signal for Bitcoin."
🔹 Major cryptocurrency exchanges are leaving Russia and Belarus. The MiCA regulation prohibits European companies from serving residents of these countries, making it impossible to maintain an EU license while operating in sanctioned markets.
🔹 JPMorgan has included Bitcoin in its long-term forecast for the first time. In its baseline scenario for the next 10–15 years, the bank expects the asset to deliver annual returns of approximately 10% — higher than U.S. stocks and gold. However, the forecast does not rule out prolonged periods of decline due to sharp price fluctuations.
