🔎 What happens when hardware slows down because it gets too hot?
👉Thermal Throttling
Thermal Throttling is a safety mechanism that automatically reduces a mining device's performance when its temperature becomes too high. By lowering the processing speed, the hardware generates less heat and helps prevent overheating, damage, or unexpected shutdowns. Proper cooling is essential to avoid thermal throttling and maintain stable mining performance.

Every transaction is permanently recorded on the blockchain – an open and publicly accessible ledger. Anyone can see when specific coins were mined, which wallet addresses they have passed through, and where they are held today.
☝️ However, the blockchain does not display the names of owners – only wallet addresses. Unless someone voluntarily reveals their identity or a wallet is linked to a specific person, it is impossible to know who owns the funds.
This transparency is one of the key reasons why Bitcoin is considered one of the most secure and verifiable financial networks in the world.

Immersion Cooling is an advanced cooling method where mining hardware is fully submerged in a special non-conductive dielectric liquid. The liquid efficiently absorbs and removes heat, allowing miners to run at lower temperatures, reduce noise, improve energy efficiency, and extend the lifespan of their equipment. This technology is increasingly used in large-scale mining operations.

⚡️What metric shows how much energy is used per terahash?
👉Hashrate Efficiency (J/TH)
Hashrate Efficiency (J/TH) is a metric that measures how many joules of energy a mining device consumes to produce one terahash (TH) of computing power. The lower the J/TH value, the more energy-efficient the miner is. Since electricity is one of the biggest mining expenses, this metric is one of the most important factors when comparing ASIC miners.

📈 What metric measures data center energy efficiency?
👉 Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE)
Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) is a metric used to measure the energy efficiency of a data center or mining facility. It compares the total amount of energy consumed by the facility to the energy used directly by the mining equipment. A PUE value closer to 1.0 indicates greater efficiency, meaning less electricity is wasted on cooling, lighting, and other supporting systems.

It’s Monday again, so here’s our weekly digest of key events in the crypto market. Let’s take a look at what happened over the past week.
▪️Bitcoin miners have been advised not to buy GPUs solely for AI, but instead focus on infrastructure. Mike Alfred, founder of Alpine Fox, said he does not believe the AI infrastructure boom is a bubble. In his view, companies looking to diversify into AI face a key strategic choice: generate revenue by providing power and data center capacity, or take on the additional risk of investing in expensive GPUs.
▪️The share of low-carbon energy used in Bitcoin mining has exceeded 59%. For the first time, hydropower has surpassed natural gas to become the single largest energy source powering the Bitcoin network.
▪️Coinbase reported a 16% decline in revenue and a net loss of $359 million. The largest U.S. cryptocurrency exchange continues to feel the effects of the prolonged crypto downturn, with its stock down 40% year-to-date.

According to analysts, between 3 and 4 million BTC are believed to be permanently lost. Their owners forgot passwords, lost private keys, or misplaced hard drives containing their wallets.
☝️As a result, the amount of Bitcoin actually available is significantly lower than the maximum supply of 21 million BTC.
This means that every lost Bitcoin makes the remaining coins even more scarce.
What do you think?
🧐 Should lost BTC still be counted as part of Bitcoin's total supply, or should they be excluded from the effective circulating supply?

It’s Monday again, so here’s our weekly digest of key events in the crypto market. Let’s take a look at what happened over the past week.
🔹 A user decided to sell “free” coins received after a fork and accidentally sold real Bitcoin. Developer Kevin Loak warned about the risks of BIP-110: a transaction involving fork tokens can be replayed on the main network, allowing an equivalent amount of BTC to be spent from the same address.
🔹 Glassnode recorded an unprecedentedly long Bitcoin capitulation phase. The composite indicator based on 45 on-chain metrics for the leading cryptocurrency has remained in the capitulation phase longer than at any point since the collapse of the FTX exchange.
🔹 CryptoQuant pointed to Bitcoin, Ethereum, and XRP accumulation by whales. Large holders of Bitcoin, Ethereum, and XRP are increasing their positions amid price pressure. The balance of Bitcoin whales (excluding exchanges and mining pools) has risen to approximately 3.06 million BTC, up from a low of around 2.87 million BTC in December 2025.

🤓 Did you know that Bitcoin miners can turn waste into money?
Some mining companies use methane from landfills and oil fields: instead of simply burning it or releasing the gas into the atmosphere, they use it to generate electricity that powers ASIC miners.
It literally works like this: waste → energy → Bitcoin.

It’s Monday again, so here’s our weekly digest of key events in the crypto market. Let’s take a look at what happened over the past week.
🔹 A mining farm employee decided to do a little mining for himself. In 2021, he allegedly redirected around 100 of his employer’s computers to his own mining pool without permission and withdrew 1.067 BTC, worth $53,315 at the time. He now faces up to one year in prison and a fine of up to $100,000.
🔹 Bitcoin miners’ revenue from transaction fees has fallen to its lowest level in 10 years.
🔹 Public Bitcoin mining companies continue to shift computing capacity toward AI. Over the past nine months, their combined hashrate, excluding Bitdeer, has declined by 21.2%. For some companies, data center operations are already generating more revenue than cryptocurrency mining.
🔹 Plan B Network Director Giacomo Zucco believes the failure of BIP-110 demonstrated the resilience of Bitcoin’s consensus. According to him, the upgrade process ultimately became too centralized around a single individual.
We'll be back soon with more updates – until then, stay tuned!

You don’t have to own a whole BTC to be a Bitcoin holder. Each Bitcoin is divided into 100,000,000 satoshis (sats) – the smallest unit of the world’s first cryptocurrency. That means:
🔹 1 BTC = 100,000,000 sats
🔹 0.01 BTC = 1,000,000 sats
🔹 0.00000001 BTC = 1 sat
The name “satoshi” comes from Bitcoin’s creator, Satoshi Nakamoto.
So even if the price of a whole BTC seems huge, you can start accumulating Bitcoin with just a small fraction of a coin.

Did you know that mining all 21 million BTC will take more than another hundred years? According to estimates, the last satoshi will be mined around 2140.
But what will happen to miners after that? They won’t disappear: their rewards will come from transaction fees for the transactions they include in blocks.
This means Bitcoin is already designed to keep operating for decades to come.

It’s Monday again, so here’s our weekly digest of key events in the crypto market. Let’s take a look at what happened over the past week.
🔹At the end of last week, BTC showed a sharp rally, gaining around 23% over seven days and trading at around $77,100 per coin at the time of publication. Some experts have linked this price surge to a cascade of short liquidations on Binance futures. This was reported by CryptoQuant contributor BorisD.
🔹Just before Bitcoin’s rally, VanEck said it was still too early to call a definitive market bottom, although the digital gold appeared to be in the final stage of its decline. VanEck tracks 12 indicators designed to reflect market conditions during major sell-offs, including BTC drawdowns, mining economics, holder behavior, and other metrics. Eight of the 12 indicators are currently in the capitulation zone, while all 12 have reached such levels at least once over the past three months. So, could they have been wrong—and are we already entering a new growth phase?
🔹BlackRock analysts, meanwhile, cited the rotation of capital into AI as one of the factors putting pressure on Bitcoin, while maintaining a positive view of Bitcoin’s role in investment portfolios. According to the asset manager’s updated 10-year analysis, hypothetically adding a 1–2% Bitcoin allocation to a traditional portfolio consisting of 60% equities and 40% bonds would historically have improved its risk-adjusted returns.

Sometimes a Bitcoin block can earn miners more than usual! Today, the block reward for mining a Bitcoin block is 3.125 BTC, but sometimes a block can contain significantly more! For example, block #840,000 was mined by the ViaBTC pool. In addition to the standard 3.125 BTC block reward, it included 37.6256 BTC in transaction fees, bringing the total reward to more than 40.75 BTC.
And this wasn't an isolated spike. Following major events on the Bitcoin network, periods of increased activity can push transaction fees significantly higher, resulting in blocks with much larger total rewards.
This is a great example of how Bitcoin mining economics work: miners earn not only the fixed block reward, but also transaction fees paid by users.
During periods of high network activity, these fees can become a significant part of a miner's total reward.

🔥 Bitcoin Miners Can Heat Buildings
ASIC miners consume electricity to perform computations, but almost all of that energy eventually turns into heat. Normally, a data center's job is to remove that heat. But what if it could be put to good use instead?
Projects like this already exist.
In Finland, heat generated by Bitcoin mining equipment is used in a district heating system serving a community of around 11,000 people. In Canada, MintGreen has developed “Digital Boilers” for Bitcoin mining, with technology capable of recovering more than 96% of the electricity consumed by mining as usable heat.
There are even home devices that combine an ASIC miner with a conventional heater. Instead of a traditional heating element, Bitcoin mining hardware operates inside the device, while the heat it generates is used to warm the room.
🤓 The economics are fascinating: the same electricity can simultaneously power computations that mine BTC and generate heat that would otherwise have to come from another energy source.

It’s Monday again, so here’s our weekly digest of key events in the crypto market. Let’s take a look at what happened over the past week.
🔹 StarkWare has conducted the first quantum-resistant transaction on the Bitcoin network. No changes to Bitcoin’s consensus rules were required. The experiment was carried out as part of the Quantum Safe Bitcoin scheme, designed as an emergency solution for migrating coins before full-scale post-quantum protection becomes available.
🔹 Crypto funds attracted $1.65 billion in just three days amid Bitcoin’s rally! Global crypto investment products recorded $1.65 billion in inflows, with nearly $1 billion flowing into Bitcoin, providing another signal of recovering institutional demand, according to a CoinShares report.
🔹 Bitdeer mined a record 1,190 BTC in July!
🔹 Bitcoin’s 90-day correlation with the Nasdaq 100 has fallen from 60% to 33%, while its correlation with gold has risen from nearly zero to more than 50%. Grayscale Head of Research Zach Pandl highlighted the shift.
🔹 Between August 16 and 26, six Bitcoin wallets dormant since 2011–2014 moved a total of 553.59 BTC worth $40.15 million, according to Galaxy Research. The largest transaction involved 212 BTC worth $13.66 million.
