በምዕራባዊት የጀርመን ከተማ ማንሃይም የጀርመን ካርኒቫል በማክበር ላይ በነበሩ በርካታ የበዓሉ ታዳሚዎች ላይ አንድ ግለሰብ መኪናውን በፍጥነት በማሽከርከር በፈጸመው ጥቃት በርካቶች መጎዳታቸውን ፖሊስ አስታውቋል።

በዓሉ ከመካሄዱ በፊት እስላማዊ መንግስት ወይም አይ ኤስ እየተባለ የሚጠራው ፅንፈኛ ቡድን በተለይ በኮለንና በኑረምበርግ ጥቃት እንደሚፈጽም በማህበራዊ መገናኛ ዘዴዎች አስጠንቅቆ ነበረ።

በመሆኑም በዓሉ በሚከበርባቸው ከተሞች ጠንካራ የጸጥታ ጥበቃ የነበረ ቢሆንም ግለሰቡ መኪናውን በፍጥነት በማሽከርከር ጉዳት ሊያደርስ መቻሉን የአካባቢው ፖሊስ አስታውቋል።

ስለደረሰው የጉዳት መጠንና ስለጥቃት አድራሹ ማንነት ፖሊስ የሰጠው ዝርዝር መረጃ እንደሌለ ሮይተርስ ዘግቧል።
