Suparinpei (壱百零八) Kata
Suparinpei (壱百零八, also knows as Pechurin and Hyakuhachiho) is one of the original Kata from RyuRuKo Sensei while he was in Fuzchou in the Fukien Province of Southern China and was handed down to Kanryo Higaonna Sensei. Visually it is similar to the Chinese White Crane Kata and the Kempo Kata of the Dragon! Its Okinawan counterpart is Pechurin.
Superinpei is the number 108 in Chinese and the Kata itself is sometimes called or translated as;
1. 108 Hands
2. The final 108 hands
3. 108 Techniques.
And has special significance in Buddhism.
Superinpei is Naha-te’s longest Kata containing more applications and techniques than any other Naha-te Kata and uses classic breathing however silent [Ibuki]. Yes still can executed with perfect form and end in Zanshin. Many of the techniques in this Kata can also be found in earlier Naha-te Kata (Seisan and Sanseiru, etc…). Master Kanazawa of Shotokan and Keiyo University of Tokyo, add this kata to their associations and called it Hyakuhachiho.

A cinematic close-up portrait of a rugged warrior standing beside a majestic lion, both looking in the same direction with intense focus. The man has a dirty, battle-worn face, nobeard, and messy hair, wearing a dusty desert cloak. The powerful lion with a large golden mane stands shoulder-to-shoulder with him, symbolizing strength and loyalty. Warm golden sunset lighting, sand particles floating in the air, dramatic shadows, ultra-realistic textures, epic movie poster style, shallow depth of field, 85mm lens, highly detailed, 8K, cinematic color grading, dramatic atmosphere.

Koshi no Kaiten (腰の回転) is a dynamic hip rotational movement in Karate that plays an important role in both offense and defense. It involves fluid movement where the hips adjust—sometimes aligning with the movement of the technique and sometimes countering it. By incorporating both Hanmi (半身) and Gyaku Hanmi (逆半身), practitioners create a clear shift in balance and energy, enabling smooth and powerful transitions between offense and defense.

NigiriBoru (握りボール) Gripping Ball
Traditional training methods such as Nigirigame—gripping jars used to build strength, control, and endurance—have been passed down through generations. Inspired by this age-old practice, I developed a modern adaptation called Nigiribooru (握りボール). Unlike the traditional earthenware jars, Nigiribooru uses a ball with adjustable weight plates, making it more versatile and accessible for today’s practitioners while preserving the core principles of grip training and posture.

Itosu Rohai Sandan
A key movement in Itosu Rohai Sandan starts after blocking a Jodan punch. Use sukui uke to lift and control the attacking arm. Then swing the arm downward while pulling the opponent toward you. Twist the arm during the motion to break balance, guide the opponent to the floor, and finish with an arm lock.

Kata performance becomes easier when your mind understands the application.
In this section of Heian Yondan, Sukui Uke, Mae Geri, then landing in Kosa Dachi with Gedan Barai and Ura Uchi, the body must understand the purpose.
When you understand the Bunkai, the kata becomes clearer.

Kakete looks soft and slow in kata. In action, the purpose changes. Your pulling hand must come alive and work with intent.
Stepping and foot position in kata have meaning. Each movement supports the application.
