The chiishi (チーシー) is a traditional Okinawan strength-training tool used in karate to develop the wrists, forearms, shoulders, and core stability essential for powerful and controlled techniques. It consists of a stone or concrete weight attached to the end of a wooden handle. Through dynamic, circular, and swinging exercises, practitioners enhance grip strength and the ability to stabilize the body during strikes and blocks.
