"Hoogleraar geneeskunde Marcel Levi vindt dat het een vertekenend beeld geeft om ook patiënten die geen coronaklachten hebben in de coronaopnames mee te tellen. Hij vermoedt dat door de zeer besmettelijke omikronvariant steeds meer mensen in het ziekenhuis terechtkomen die het virus bij zich dragen, maar niet om die reden zijn opgenomen. Volgens het LCPS gaat het om 'kleine aantallen' patiënten die niet zijn opgenomen vanwege corona, maar het wel hebben. Exacte cijfers hierover zijn er niet."

Het is werkelijk onvoorstelbaar..
Bekijk deze grafiek nog maar eens goed en bedenk het persoonlijk leed, de economische schade dat de recente lockdown allemaal teweeg heeft gebracht.

"Het was een gitzwart scenario dat RIVM-modelleur Jacco Wallinga half december aan de overige OMT-leden toonde. Als er niet zou worden ingegrepen dan zou het kunnen dat er begin februari 4000 coronapatiënten op de IC zouden liggen. Dat is een veelvoud van wat de ziekenhuizen in Nederland aankunnen. En dus was ingrijpen noodzakelijk, concludeerden de OMT-leden."
"In werkelijkheid zijn dat er nu minder dan 400. Hoe kan dat?"

Face coverings will no longer be mandatory - with the requirement dropped for secondary pupils in classrooms from tomorrow.
The PM said England was reverting to "Plan A" due to boosters and how people had followed Plan B measures.
He told MPs that scientists believed the Omicron wave had peaked nationally.
