As we ended the month with the exciting news that Dusk Network has become a shareholder of the Dutch NPEX stock exchange, our development team has been busy implementing a host of new and improved technology.

✅ The implementation of our own stand-alone ElGamal encryption scheme has been completed. It follows a prior implementation of ElGamal with PLONK and allows us to have our provable encryption operations in zero-knowledge.

✅ We started implementing PLOOKUP ahead of schedule. PLOOKUP speeds up proving times of existing circuits and provides a foundation for additional innovative features down the line, such as recursive proof verification.

✅ This month’s research has been primarily focused on how we can use existing layer-2 primitives such as Zk-Rollups to realize a layer-2 DEX protocol.

Staking Update: Merging Block Generators with the Provisioner Staking Contract
Facilitating our Block Generator stakers’ switch to the Provisioner contract

Key takeaways:
➡️ Ethereum transaction costs have increased significantly since the start of our staking campaign
➡️ Our Block Generator contract has a complex set-up and is computationally expensive, which affects the payout of our Block Generators negatively
➡️ To prevent this burden on our stakers, we will return all Block Generator stakes and accrued rewards starting this *Friday, January 15th at 9:00 UTC*
➡️ This automatic process may take up to 3 days and requires no effort from Block Generator stakers
➡️ We will invite all former Block Generator stakers to join the Provisioner Staking campaign!

By prioritizing Provisioner staking, we shield our users from the excessive Ethereum Network transaction fees, allowing DUSK staking to remain accessible to a wider public.
