this runs on X11 too, very responsive compared to XFCE in my potato.

VirtualAP v1.8.0 has been released!

For those who don't know what VirtualAP is, it allows you to convert your mobile device into a fully functional Wi-Fi router by creating a bridge with an OpenWRT Droidspaces container.

Since Droidspaces containers have no virtualization overhead, your VirtualAP hotspot will achieve the maximum throughput of your Wi-Fi hardware, potentially even better than what Android provides.

This is the first time such an integration exists in the world. People have tried to do this in the past with the help of QEMU, but we both know QEMU TCG performance is poor, isn't it?

For those wondering how to use the Droidspaces x VirtualAP setup, it's easier than you think.

1. Make sure your kernel has Droidspaces support, and that Droidspaces is installed and running in Daemon mode.

2. Open Droidspaces, go to the rootfs repo, and install the OpenWRT container with the networking mode selected as "NAT," then start it.

3. Install VirtualAP, grant it root access, and open it; it will start to install the backend.

4. Once you land on the VirtualAP homepage, fill in your hotspot name and password properly.

5. If the OpenWRT container in Droidspaces is really running, you'll see two tabs called "Interface" and "Managed" in the middle of the VirtualAP app.

6. Tap "Managed," select the OpenWRT container, scroll to the bottom, and start the hotspot!

That's it! No extra configuration is needed via typing scary commands or configuring everything using LuCI. VirtualAP handles everything with the tap of a button :)
