Everyone has the sense, I believe, that there is more to them than they have yet allowed to be realized.

Who could you be, if you were everything you could conceivably be?

The Female Dilemma of Fecundity and Career.

"Many 19-year-old girls, I’ve talked to many of them, believe that their career is going to be the most important thing in their life. Very few 30-year-old women believe that, even if they have high-powered careers..."

My podcast with Rob Henderson will go live tomorrow on YouTube, Apple Podcasts and Spotify.

Two pieces of advice if you're being mobbed online and you're having difficult conversations:

1. Be careful about what you say; or what you have said in the past. And it may be too late for that.

2. If you haven't done anything wrong, do not apologise.
If you are a competent writer, speaker and communicator - you have all of the authority and competence that there is.⁣

The world Is dangerous. But you're tougher than you think you are.

In my clinical practice, it isn't that my clients became less afraid. They become braver. And they realised there was more to them than they initially thought there was.

"...there is this feeling among more blue-collar, working-class people that, “The elites over there, they look down on us. They view us in a certain way. They treat us like we’re stupid, backwards, evil, or racist. Really it’s just not true."

You can be wise and smart, but there's no relationship between being smart and being wise - and there's no quick pathway from smart to wise.

Here lies the arrogance of the intellect.

"It's unbelievably adventurous to only say what you think is true right there and then, to be in that moment, and to have decided that there's no agenda, "I'm just going to say what I think, regardless of the consequences."

To treat yourself as if you were someone you are responsible for helping is, instead, to consider what would be truly good for you.

This is not “what you want.” It is also not “what would make you happy.”

You need to consider the future and think, “What might my life look like if I were caring for myself properly? What career would challenge me and render me productive and helpful, so that I could shoulder my share of the load, and enjoy the consequences?

"What should I be doing, when I have some freedom, to improve my health, expand my knowledge, and strengthen my body?”

"...you can’t move ahead without axiomatic presuppositions. The issue is they have to be, it seems to me, and maybe this has to do with the Christian idea that you’re supposed to look for the evil within: you’re destined to operate with a set of axiomatic presuppositions."

If you work as hard as you can on one thing, you will change. You will start to also become one thing instead of the clamoring multitude you once were.

That one thing, developed properly, is not only the disciplined entity formed by sacrifice, commitment, and concentration. It is that which creates, destroys, and transforms discipline itself— civilization itself— by expressing its unity of personality and society.

Work as hard as you possibly can on at least one thing and see what happens.

"...But what they [the social-justice crusade] lack is a Christian sense of compassion for weak, feeble humanity, which we all are, we’re all crooked, and the sense that the line between good and evil runs right down the middle of every one of us."

"We all want power. There's nothing wrong with that. The trick is to use it well. Everyone wants power; no one likes to be powerless, and why should we? But we need the right kinds of power for the right kinds of reasons."

"What I received was sexual assault. I mean full physical contact. It's not like dirty talking, that happened too, but I mean direct sexual assault, rape, and that was really bad." - Mohamedou Ould Salahi.

Mohamedou Ould Salahi was detained at Guantanamo Bay detention camp without charge from 2002 until his release on October 17, 2016. Slahi wrote a memoir in 2005 while imprisoned, which the U.S. government declassified in 2012 with numerous redactions.
