New York City area is under flash flood warning. Here are some great ideas for preparing but don't wait until you're in a situation with a flood warning. These are the kinds of things you should be prepping

1. Charge all your devices

2. Elevate boilers, water heaters, and electric panels above base flood elevation.

3. Store valuables upstairs or in waterproof containers.

4. Use sandbags or flood barriers at entry points (especially basement doors and garage).

5. Unplug and Elevate - Unplug electronics, move them up high.

6. Go Up, Not Out - If water rises, go to the highest level of your home — not the basement.

7. Emergency Kit - Flashlights, batteries, food, water, meds, documents, power banks.

8. Pay attention to evacuation zones

Know the location, ahead of time, of your local shelters if needed — they accept pets.
