How do we stop this from happening? The answer is extremely simple: Stop listening to only one speaker or group of speakers. Listen to as many different people as possible and adjust your worldview then. This way, the influence of the sheep herders have very little effect.

To be absolutely clear, do not disregard the research done by other groups because they possess a worldview that differs from your own, or because you believe they are let astray. I wouldn't say all groups are equal in amounts of deception or usefulness, but the vast majority have at least some useful information.

If you compartmentalize yourself to one group, you lose.
