IDF combat soldiers in Gaza danced and sang with a new sefer Torah inside a home in Khan Yunis.

The ceremony is known as Hachnasat Sefer Torah, it is when a new sefer Torah has been written.

The 14th Reserve Brigade located & destroyed one of the hideout apartments of the Leader of the Hamas terrorist organization in Gaza, Yahya Sinwar.

Elite Yahalom unit soldiers examined the apartment using additional technological means, and discovered that a strategic tunnel shaft was located on the basement floor that was apparently used by the senior officials of Hamas’ Military and Political Wing.

The apartment is part of a long and branching tunnel network, in which senior officials of the Hamas terrorist organization moved and operated. The tunnel shaft that was located in the northern Gaza Strip led to a 218 meter long tunnel, with a depth of about 20 meters.

Located in the tunnel was an electrical network, ventilation and sewage infrastructure, hideout materials, prayer rooms and resting rooms. The tunnel was built so that it would be possible to stay inside it and conduct combat from it for long periods of time.

The 188th Brigade has been operating since the beginning of the week in the Al Bureij Camp in the central Gaza Strip. During their activity in the area, the troops encountered many terrorists who attacked the forces from positions within civilian buildings and population. From the beginning of the operations in the camp, the troops located 4 rocket launchers and destroyed them, exposing five tunnel shafts.

Last Thursday, intelligence was received regarding dozens of Hamas terrorists hiding inside a school together with civilians. The terrorists took advantage of the presence of civilians in the school area in order to fire RPGs and fire at the forces while hiding behind women and children.

The troops of the 188th brigade, led by the brigade commander, raided the school and separated the civilians from the terrorists. The terrorists were apprehended and taken for further examination by the security forces.
