Amazing stuff!! And probably a first for the IDF, at least in the past 20 years or more.
A Givati unit had not yet completed their "siyum maslul (end of the track)" course as the war broke out, so they had not yet received their combat badges which every combat soldier receives at the end of the training course.
So they held the ceremony for them in Gaza during the war now. Usually the parents can attend such ceremonies but of course they are in Gaza so it was not possible.
Mazal tov you are now official combat soldiers for the state of Israel!!!
