Surprise Release from Dipterid Records !💥For more than two decades, Sacha Mullin has quietly built one of Chicago’s most distinctive yet underrecognized bodies of work. Each release explores a different musical landscape, but all share meticulous craftsmanship, a willingness to continually develop his sound, emotionally charged songwriting, and a voice that moves from quiet precision to soaring intensity.
The fourth solo album of Sacha, Social Touch, brings those qualities into a more direct and immediate pop setting. Produced by William Parker Wood, the record draws upon Mullin’s background in pop, jazz, rock, and experimental music without being confined to any single genre.
The album campaign begins with “Hypocenter”. The single takes Mullin’s voice into dark, cinematic territory, pairing drum & bass propulsion with an angular pop sensibility. His vocals shift from intimate, finely controlled passages to sudden, soaring peaks. The song also features returning collaborator Emily Bindiger on backing vocals, whose wide-ranging career includes work with Leonard Cohen’s “Who by Fire” and Yoko Kanno’s Cowboy Bebop soundtrack.
Today, we're happy to share the details on Sacha's signing to Dipterid Records, share the insights on today's release - 'Hypocenter' 7-inch. AND announce the upcoming release of 'Social Touch'.
Social Touch arrives October 19 on 140-gram Iridescent White-Blue vinyl, CD, and digital formats. The CD and digital versions include two additional songs: “Let’s Cruise” and “Tall Ask,” while the digital release also features William Parker Wood’s “Tears Into Platinum (Remix).” The LP and “Hypocenter” seven-inch are available separately or as a vinyl bundle.
✅PRE-ORDER 'SOCIAL TOUCH' FROM NOW ON VIA DIPTERID RECORDS HERE.
Mullin will celebrate the album’s release on October 19 at Cafe Mustache in Chicago, joined by Bret Koontz and Sponj.

“As Above”, the first single of Jonas De Kesel’s debut album ‘White Horse Chestnut’, is out via Heimlich Manoeuvres 🔥
For years, Jonas De Kesel was mostly the guy behind the guitar. Born in Ghent in 1992, he started playing guitar as a kid and spent his early years in punk and DIY bands. Eventually, his fascination with the instrument took him to Andalusia, where he apprenticed with a guitar maker, spending ten hours a day in the workshop and learning to build instruments without shortcuts.
– explains De Kesel talking about the opening single off ‘White Horse Chestnut’.

"The inspiration for As Above actually came from a dream I had.”
– explains De Kesel talking about the opening single off ‘White Horse Chestnut’.
“I was somewhere high in the mountains, watching the sun go down slowly. At first, everything felt very peaceful. The sky was turning orange and there was an eagle gliding above the landscape, very calm and imposing. But as the sun continued to set, the orange sky slowly turned blood red. The whole atmosphere changed. The landscape seemed to break open, as if the gates to another world were opening beneath me. I felt this overwhelming sense of fear, while the eagle just kept flying, completely untouched by what was happening below. At some point, it felt like the eagle was inviting me to rise with it. I went higher and higher into the sky, and from up there my perspective of the landscape completely changed. The fear slowly gave way to something very warm. The colors started moving through the air, and everything became almost divine. That image really stayed with me. Especially that transition from something beautiful and peaceful into something very dark, and then into something almost heavenly again. That contrast became the starting point for As Above.”

Dead Neanderthals not only mark a shift towards shorter compositions but also, present their most extreme work to date.“I’m always trying to get new and heavy sounds out of my synths and I think I've achieved a new level of ridiculousness here,”

“Who knew you can make electronics sound so hideously weird and crushing if you play them way too loud through an amp?”
The album’s vocal approach was equally crucial to shaping its soundscape.
“This is the super heavy and very dense album I've wanted to make for a long time,”
shares René Aquarius.
“A key ingredient of the heaviness is the unhinged vocal performance. I really pushed myself and experimented with my vocal style for this album, which has led to this monstrous type of screaming.”

It's been exciting journey with Kavus Torabi that continues. 'October By Name' sees Kavus evolving as an artist in ways he maybe didn’t even predict himself. Both inspired by his recent work with Gong and Cardiacs, and inhabiting a serious change of modus operandi via his work to date with the improvisational project The Utopia Strong, he created a new method of writing where all styles converge and overlap

“It’s been freeing to have more technical confidence, providing me with more control over the finer emotions I was hoping to express on these seven tracks,”
shares Edley. The idea behind Kowai-yet began with an unexpected listening experience several years ago.
“I had a fascinating aural experience, while I was driving home on a hot summer night with my windows rolled down,”
recounts Edley.
“The serenity of the crickets’ harmonies provided the perfect backdrop to the sound of my car tires against humid pavement and gravel. A harsher, rougher sound. In the immersive soundtrack I was presently enveloped in, it blended perfectly into being sinister but compelling at the same time. The singular word that came to mind to describe this sound was ‘kowai’, the Japanese word for ‘scary’. As I came to a halt at a stop sign, the air went still and silent. At that moment I thought ‘quiet’ which instantly became ‘Kowai-yet’.”

Truly excited to welcome Nasalrod to the roster of clients of Discipline PR with their upcoming release via 👏
Hailing from Portland, OR and once described by legendary underground artist Lydia Lunch as “harsh, hard...catchy, weird, arty” and “a very unique blend that defies category,” Nasalrod is a collaborative vision of punk rock chaos. In their years together, Nasalrod has built a reputation for its notoriously frantic live performances and an unapologetically unhinged approach. Their music has been described by Week in Pop as “raucous and radically defiant…a party crashing cavalcade of confidence and cavalier fancy.
Led by Chairman's sneering, kooky yet soulful vocals, expanded by Mustin Douch’s wiley, dexterous guitar explosions, anchored by Mandy Morgan’s punchy, authoritative bass work, and driven by the relentless intensity of founding FEAR drummer Spit Stix, the quartet combines ferocious spazz-punk, warped melodies and convulsive rock and roll into a sound that is as unpredictable as it is infectious.
"Friends" features a version of FEAR's “What Are Friends For?”, originally written by Spit Stix! The reworked rendition here finally brings Spit's intended vision to life. Paired with the melodic intensity of “Behind Friendly Faces”, the two tracks offer contrasting perspectives on friendship, delivered with Nasalrod's signature blend of theatrical energy, twisted humor, precise musicianship, and explosive intensity. It’s this very unhinged creative vision which has been on Jello Biafra’s radar since the release of their split with Victim’s Family, In The Modern Meatspace on Nadine Records in 2024.
