Helminths are a group of parasitic worms, and the word Helminth means worm. Helminths have plagued this realm since the dawn of time; they are large macroparasites and the adults can often be seen with the naked eye, which is how the Romans & ancient Greeks were the first able to classify them as either: 'flat' (tapeworms), 'large' (probably Ascaris), 'thin' (probably Enterobius/Pinworms), but at the time their true purpose was unknown and shrouded in myth. Only since the 17th century, has that the veil over of their true purpose and identity been lifted, due to the advent of microscopes in the field of parasitology.

Helminths are mostly gastrointestinal parasites, but some like to venture beyond the tract.

Parasitic worms reside, and feed on their living hosts. Able to trick the hosts' immune system, the parasite(s) receives protection, and nourishment while stealing essential nutrients from their hosts. The helminth also excretes/secretes various molecules into their generous hosts which can cause a plethora of diseases and health issues: cancers, inflammation, severe weight loss/gain, tiredness, weakness, hair loss, schizophrenia, tics, mood swings and depressions, homosexuality, etc.

Helminths are classified in 3 categories:

~Tremadotes which consists of over 18,000 species, with the most common being: Flukes
~Cestodes consists of over 6000 species, most common: Tapeworms
~Nematodes consists of over 30,000 species, most famous: Pinworms, Ascaris...

All helminths go through either a internal, or semi-external cycle of egg, larvae, adult stage. In humans some (e.g. pinworms) will lay their eggs near or outside orifices, and these eggs can survive months, even years; hence the importance of showering daily, trimming nails and washing hands especially if in contact with itchy orifices (nose, ears, assholes...) or infected skin, wearing clean clothes, and changing bed sheets daily on any parasitic cleanses is essential in order to maximize their efficacy.
