In a time when division can feel overwhelming, seeing our nation’s leaders prioritize prayer and acknowledge our dependence on the Creator is both humbling and inspiring. It signals a return to first principles, the idea that liberty, justice, and human dignity flow from the hand of a loving and sovereign God.
What “Jubilee” Truly Means
The word Jubilee comes from the Bible (Leviticus 25).
Every 50th year, after seven cycles of seven years, the Israelites were called to a sacred season of liberation and restoration:
Debts were forgiven.
Slaves and indentured servants were set free.
Land was returned to original families.
The people and the soil rested.
It was a divine reset, a year of freedom, justice, equality, and fresh starts.
The Trumpet (the yobel) would sound, proclaiming liberty throughout the land. In the New Testament, Jesus echoed this when He declared the “year of the Lord’s favor,” pointing to ultimate spiritual freedom through redemption.
Calling today’s gathering a National Jubilee beautifully connects America’s story to this ancient biblical vision. As we approach our 250th birthday, it’s a call to:
Release bitterness and division.
Restore what’s been broken.
Rededicate ourselves to the principles that made this country a beacon of hope.
Seek God’s wisdom, mercy, and blessing for the next 250 years.
Today reminds us that true greatness isn’t measured only in power or prosperity, but in humility before God.
When a nation turns its heart toward the One who grants liberty, families strengthen, communities heal, and freedom flourishes.
